Hi, I was wondering which of this year's higher end gaming laptops (nvidia GTX 765+ and ati 7970+) were considered the quietest and coolest. I know all of them will be pretty hot and noisy just owing to the fact that they are gaming computers, but just relatively speaking.

Be sure to keep an eye out for professional reviews of the systems. They will sometimes go to the extent of measuring the dB of fans and post it in their reviews.

For the time being, I think it's a little too early to have a unanimous consensus on which of the new models is the quietest. They should all be fairly comparable, though.

I've been out researching the computer tech industry for a long time, and as a result, I wouldn't know what temperatures compare to what. Are there an egregious offenders? More specifically, I'm looking for comparisons between the Haswell and AMD processors, as the AMD ones are cheaper and therefore much more appealing to me at this time.

You can visit CPU boss and get a fair idea of how specific processors compare. AMD chips don't hold a candle to the Intel Core chips as far as CPU performance goes, but they're a good budget alternative.

There certainly are "offenders." ;) But when it comes to the high end systems/gaming units, they put more focus into designing an adequate cooling system to accommodate so much thermal activity. As long as you maintain the laptop and nothing is broken, it will stay relatively cool, regardless of OEM.

This is off topic of my own thread, but I didn't want to create a new topic when I already had one on front page.

Why is it that the screen upgrades on MSI computers are so expensive compared to the Clevos? Is it because the base screen is worse or is it the upgraded screen is better? Or is it just a branding thing?

My current computer has the upgraded screen but I am contemplating not upgrading my screen this time around due to the high costs. Is there an online comparison between the screens somewhere?
