Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and have recently bought an WT75 8SM, with the following specs:
8700k
quadro p3200
32gb ram
I'm having some issues since I bought it:
- After the computer is put to sleep , when he wakes up the windows dotted circle starts rotating but after a while it crashes and I have to shut the laptop down on the power button. When powering it on again it runs normally.
-Also, when the described above doesn't happens the computer boots during 15 seconds and goes to sleep after it. If I wake it up after it runs normally, once again...
I have some doubts also, I have the right side button to switch between graphics. When I have it enable it uses the hybrid mode? And disabled it uses the internal gpu?
I use it mainly for 3d rendering, how can I boost up the computer for maximum performance? Before I buy it I though it would be a bit quicker in my daily usage but I believe I'm not taking its capacity to the maximum.
Any help would be appreciated.
BR

Integrated graphics are enabled if the hybrid button is lit up white. The Nvidia card is still available if one is installed, it will turn on if the application specifies to use the Performance GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel. I suggest not using hybrid mode unless you specifically need better battery life.
If you have an 8700k, install the latest BIOS and EC from MSI. You should not be performance limited to 95W TDP and can take the 8700k up to 120W or whatever it goes to at 4.7ghz on all cores. I would also consider undervolting to take it farther, and repasting is not hard if you are looking for even more performance.
Also, do you have a Quadro P5200 video card? AFAIK 8SM SKU only has that Quadro. If you do and happen to remove the bottom cover, do you mind taking photos of the GPU Heatsink so I can compare it against the Quadro P3200 / P4200 heatsink? I believe its a different heatsink and form factor but have not been able to confirm it yet.Kevin@GenTechPC and Rengsey R. H. Jr. like this. -
@win32asmguy sorry I was mistaken. My computer is running the 8700 and a quadro p3200.
I've installed the most recent BIOS and EC update today, I'll give a feedback after I run it for a while.

Hi,
after updating EC and BIOS I'm getting other issues:
- PC now works normally but sometimes when I turn it off it doesn't turn off (screen goes black , everything goes off but the keyboard lights remain on as well as the vents)
- I don't know if this has something to do with the new windows update but it occured after the recent WU. The sound board went unrecognized, it shows up in device manager with the exclamation mark. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them but it didn't solved the problem... On the sound device manager it only shows my bluetooth speakers, the computer default speaker is not showing. Tried troubleshooting but didn't solve it.
Any solution for those problems?
EDIT: Managed to solve the sound issue by unistalling the device with exclamation mark on the device managerLast edited: Mar 25, 2019ryzeki likes this. -
Do you still have the issue of turning off the PC and the laptop remains "on" with the screen turned off? I had a similar issue which was caused by an USB mouse. As long as the mouse was connected, the laptop took forever to shut down.
This was to a GT73 so it's not your model, but maybe you have a similar issue? -

I noticed this with the GS75 now, but in this case, the laptop keeps USB power even after turning it off. I probably need to check in BIOS or somewhere to disable that; it keeps my mouse turned on even after the laptop shutoff and it's bothersome at nights.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

Is this USB option available in the standard BIOS or unlocked BIOS?

I've seen the USB thing happen during start up and shutdown with some versions of Windows 10 as well. If it's not completely up to date but it might try to change/update while starting up or shutting, the PC will just sit there trying to do something. It could be trying to update/change a USB device driver during that time as well if it keeps happening. Could try disabling Windows from Installing other manufacturer apps to see if that helps. I also know notepad is notorious for preventing full shutdowns if you use it (I do a lot, so this has occurred with me).
Does it happen when the USB devices are unplugged and the PC is shut down? -
Hi,
I've been doing some tests and I guess it might have to do with the USB power.
Everytime I turn the laptop off with nothing connected in the USB ports it turns off perfectly.
When having the mouse connected, sometimes it works ok the other times it doesn't. I will check when I arrive home the option in the BIOS for the USB power and I'll post an update after. -

Hi guys
I had a lot of work and didn't managed to get the problems solved (or even tried solving them)
I'm a bit free now and the PC is coming a lot slower and running high % of cpu in common processes..
I'll try to format it, apply those fixes in the BIOS and then I'll post some feedback.. Thank every1 for the help provided
