Ive been saving for a laptop for a long time

ive got a sony laptop with a cracked lcd thats not worth repairing

SO Ive been shopping for a good one. Usually a good one goes for $1500

But as I get closer to $1500 something always seems to come up. I as set to buy one in jun but I bought a car. I thought id just resell the car it was such a steal. and then buy a better laptop.

But I love the car too much. I cant get rid of it.

So anyhow I have a problem for some reason spending $1500 on a laptop right now. I mean, Ill do it its just so hard.

So I went on a side project trying to find a gaming notebook for $500

well I wouldnt post this in the what should I buy thread because I dont think anyone would have any useful advice. But, the only gaming notebook I could make is actually an msi 1029

I have a 40 gb ata hd and 2 256 mb 3200 ram chps i can use from this sony laptop thats 4 yrs old.

    ok well thats $60

    http://www.thenerds.net/index.php?p...DVD&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=10-24206750-2

thats 557, outside of california reasonable reseller rating.

    so 617 out the door.

Im a gamer I want to play oblivian. I can live with playing it sort of ugly.

First off, do you think this is a good buy? Can you beat these prices or show me a better idea for very little money more?

I though it was MT as well, and 25W Mobile Semprons.

Yes i checked out it only suport mt series, so you won´t be able to use that specifc chip.

(ok you can.,.. but if i am not wrong it is so complicated to configure by yourself that it´s not worth the risk.)

If you have to spend something like 150 bucks in a chip, you might consider buying a dell. for 730 you can get a E1505 core solo with ati X1400 (just slightly slower than the Ati x700 from the MSI 1029).

If you rise your budget to 820 you could buy the 1039 in that same website + the chip for 150 + the things you already own. (honestly for games pleaseeee buy AT least one more chip of 512mb of ram)

PS: post your buy faq, even if it´s just basics like where you are buying it from, maximum budget....

oh as i said i already posted in the faq

not too much advice most of the forumers are only familiar with retail web sites for whole notebooks, not components.

I should know Ive posted about 400 times in that forum giving people advice for when I was in the market in june.

I can cancel this project and get a $1500 in 5 weeks.

youre right the mt chip is the logjam.

The msi 1039 would be perfect if it cost 600. why doesnt it cost 600? I dont understand, why is it undercut by asus s96j and compal 80? Just a planned market failure.
