old MS-1029 looking for xp drivers

I have an old MSI MS-1029 model that I am giving to a friend, but haven't had a lot of luck finding the drivers for it. I found one page but I'm not sure if I trust it or not. I was hoping someone here might have had some experience with the site and could weigh in on it. I don't want to send my buddy a laptop with spyware or viruses, because he isn't very computer savvy. I had been using it as a linux box, but had to put xp on it for him because he's more comfortable with it. Well anyway, here is the site that I found but for some reason I just don't get the best feeling about it:

Or please direct me to a place that contains legacy drivers if you know of any.

My biggest issue is getting ati to recognize the x700 video card. I found the legacy drivers from ati but when I try to install it says that it doesn't recognize the card.

Have installed a fresh copy of xp pro 32bit. Thanks for any help.

 

We have some (very old archive) of the MS-1029 drivers. I have not looked or remember if all were functional. These are direct from MSI, One archive has 1029 XP_64 drivers but may also contain some x86 drivers. The other archive is for vista x86 & x64. If you want to try them send us 2 x DVD's with a self addressed stamped envelope and i can burn them and send them back to you.

Yeah, MSI keep that drivers on their site. Recently I've reinstalled one, but unfortunately it died little bit after that. Something wrong with the motherboard ...

Sorry, no. They have long been discontinued. Your best bet is search ebay, there have been some on there for parts.

 

Well if I had the time I might try this but I'll be mailing it this weekend no matter what.

But as a side question... how big are files that it requires dvd's? I would think that you could fit them all on one cd being that they are so old.

 

Honestly I did not even check the 2 archive sizes. Just said DVD's to play it safe.
