    new gs75 temps

    hello

    i bought a new gs75 stealth after spending a lot of time reading reviews on this amazing laptop, my specs are as follows:-

    I7 10th Gen 8-Core 10875H
    32 GB DDR3
    512 GB SSD
    GFX 2060

    the unique thing about my laptop is that i got a custom thermal paste (Gelid Extreme) installed by the laptop builder/retailer as i believed that will give me better temps especially under load,

    anyways.

    I noticed however two things,

    the fan on the laptop will go up to 70% in the MSI Dragon Center under User Scenarios,

    i also did a stress test with prime95 for cpu only for 30 minutes and my temps per core went as follows:
    96 - 93 - 100 ! - 95 - 98 - 94 - 95 - 92

    i was alarmed by that reaching 100c because my understanding this cpu threshold is 100c only !

    id like to know are those temps ok or what ?!...

    According to the person at MSI tech support that I spoke to, these chips run really hot. According to him, temps in the mid 90's are normal and nothing to worry about.

    It doesn't seem right to me, but that was the official answer I was given.

    Undervolt and it will run a lot cooler, but I suspect that repaste job is a bit crappy, people get temps in the 85-90ºC with stock paste..

    do they stress test it with prim95 ?! my laptop retailer argues the prime95 should not be used to stress test a laptop saying it will give high temps normally, so who should i believe !?...

    Sometimes they do, but its a thin laptop, dont go willy nilly running CPU stress tests for hours, check the temps when doing what you want to do with the laptop, and then act accordingly, if you just play games and it stays put at around 80ºC, then dont touch it much more, just do a cleanup and repaste at least once a year, because its a laptop, and laptops need maintenance.

    i really dont wanna mess around removing parts in my laptop and screw thing up coz this laptop got its board up side down and seems a bit tricky !

    i was just hoping to get better temps since it got a better thermal paste and i paid money for that upgrade !

    can u quote for me some of those posts quoting the temps for the 10875h coz i need to take an action if my laptop thermal paste is really bad, i may contact the retailer who sold me this !...

    sadly even when gaming temps go up to 99c for a single core !
    97-93-95-92-99-96-91-88c

    am thinking of sending it back to a service center, the retailer did a custom thermal paste for my laptop, i wish they never did and i stuck to the default thermal paste coming from MSI !!!! they confirmed to me that warranty will NOT be voided by changing the thermal paste, i hope that is true !

    And have you undervolted the CPU?
    Getting an HK CPU in that chassis wont gain you much because you will always be temperature limited, limit the max clocks to something like 4.1-4.2Ghz and undervolt as much as you can.

    i think i finally managed to pull this off, comparing to notebookcheck review here:

    i did a prime95 Blend stress test, the temp would go up to 99c or a bit lower, BUT FOR FEW SECONDS, then the CPU will automatically throttle down to 3.x GHz, i completed a 30 minutes test and i got up to 3.69 GHz with Cooler Boost active and temps were less than 95c...

    am thinking reaching 99c is a common thing on MAX CLOCK then chipset will automatically throttle down !...

    is it the case ?!

    and can this chipset be undervolted slightly using throttle stop coz i heard i cant ?!...
