There are a lot of things to consider and so you may get mixed answers. G750 series has a lot of good things going for it. The GT series is not quite as quiet and not quite as cool (temperature), but tends to offer more for your dollar (better "value"). It comes to preference, really.

Do you like tweaking and changing components? Everything in the Asus is either custom (GPU) or soldered (CPU) so if that is your thing there is only one choice.

Well it's not a lot of the time, but since you wont be then it's quite close. The MSI has a better keyboard and sound system and is easier to clean.

ASUS ROG G750JX has better temps because of the dual fan setup compared to MSI's single fan. Have you considered buying the 15" variant of the GT70 being the GT60. Prime difference being screen size. You could save quite a bit and get an SSD or CPU upgrade. Also, going through Amazon only or have you considered local resellers like Gentech, XoticPC?

isnt there anyone here who is not happy with all the ports and sockets of asus being on the right handside. unless you are a leftie, i always find it a big hindrance to have all these next to the mouse. i simply cant use them. msi is smart with it. they placed them almost every port and socket on the back and left sides of the laptop. this is why i would go with msi. the only setback msi has is that it's louder.
it is also very interesting how asus presents the rog series with photos taken from the left of the laptop. there is like almost not one photo showing the right side of the laptop with all the ports and sockets lined up there. for example: http://www.asus.com/ROG_ROG/ASUS_ROG_G750JH/gallery/
do you see what i mean. it looks to be intentional. Image1.jpg

Most MSI laptops have audio ports and a USB 2.0 on the right side while 3.0's plus card reader on the left. At least for the GT60s and GT70s.

Having lots of ports with one or two each side gives you options.

that's right. i do not say leave the right side of the laptop blank. but priority should be on the left with certain things like audio, network and power. if you are gaming, you most likely use headphones, a rj45 jack for your lan and the power plug which would be a lot of hindrance if they would be in the area where you should be able to use your mouse free of those connectors and cables etc. right side could have the optical drive, card reader and a few additional usb ports where you could put those tiny nano usb thingies like your wireless mouse would have.
