I have the msi gt72 dominator pro laptop, I think I have a loose dc jack but im not sure. My laptop switches from ac to dc while im playing pc games. But its happened on ocassion while surfing in the internet. At first I thought it might have been my adapter. The original one died, but im still having problems. So is my jack most likely loose or could it be something with my new adapter?

If you gently wiggle the plug in the jack does that make it flicker on and off ac power?

like I said it seems to happen more while im playing a game. But it happens while im using the internet, and occasionally if I wiggle it.

The symptom might be possibly caused by melted solder due to high heat under full power, or external force.
It's recommended to contact MSI directly to find out how to send it back via warranty service.

Yes it could be the solder is just starting to give way but expands when heated up, it's easier and safer to get that sorted sooner rather than later.

Also, when the contacts are loose, reapplying the solder may not secure the joints because of weakened base. In this case, a new jack may be needed, and at worst a new board may be needed.

I just got a new adapter the original one I had died on me. The new one I had for the first couple of days was fine but than I started having problems again. It really is werid i can go a couple without playing a game and 9 times out of ten I wont see it switch from ac to dc. But 2 or 3 minutes into a game it starts acting up. This is the weridest thing ive ever seen!!! Ive had it with laptops!!! I should have just built a computer it would have been cheaper and I wouldnt have the problems ive had with laptops!!! I HATE MY LAPTOP!!!!
