I've got an MSI GT70 Barebones - I wanted the branded MSI version instead.

    Specs:

    core i7-3720qm
    750gb hdd
    128gbssd
    gtx 675mx 2GB (not gtx 675m)
    17.3 antiglare
    power brick

    - the cost of this machine after taxes is about $1950 according to gentech, so I'm wondering what i could get for it used. in excellent condition.

    used, for how long?
    Is excellent condition mint condition?
    Any warranty left?
    I'd call about 900-1100$.

For around $1700 you can get a haswell and a 780gtx which kills the performance of the 675mx so no, $1500 is pushing it
    I would say 1,100 tops

Why would you want the MSI one? The black one looks soooo much better then all that BS 14 year old dragon kid crap on it.

The depreciation kills its resale value about as much as the "used condition" indication. $1100 would be reasonable but you can expect lower offers. Try asking around the NBR marketplace as well. :)
