Did you try gaming on it? You can always check the temperatures for yourself. Check the Anandtech review and compare your FPS with theirs and you have your reply.

Don't you have 30 days to to return?

Sounds like you bouhgt the MSI GT70 20D 001US laptop. When it comes down to it, you're not going to find a laptop with an OS included with a 780m and a haswell processor with 16gb ram for less than 2000 dollars. the only alternative is a sager with the same parts for a little bit cheaper, but at this point, the extra cost is negligible. Its a great computer... sure it may be a tad bit pricey, but you'll enjoy it. I have the same laptop and i can attest that it plays everything on ultra without a hitch. One word of advice when buying a prebuilt system... buy from newegg or another online retailer that doesn't charge sales tax.

I've tried nearly all of the AVs.

I currently use G Data. I would also recommend F Secure.
If you want to go free then go with Avast. I however had problems with wireless using this. May have been resolved with version 8.

I would suggest to go for the trials to see which suits you.

Word of advice... don't go Norton or McAfee!

What sort of problems did Avast pose with wireless? I have seen it mentioned with some users around but I don't know of it. I currently use it and maybe I haven't even notice the issue!

I was constantly having to reset the wireless adapter due to disconnections.
After uninstalling Avast the problem stopped happening. It was a bit of luck solving that one. ;)

I had Kapersky on my desktop a few years ago, but have only used my laptop since I've been at college. I liked Kapersky, seems to work pretty damn well :)
