A friend of mine recently gave me his old laptop after it died. It wasn't powering on, even after prelacing both the power jack on the computer, and the power board (and the ac adapter).
I found a reasonably priced motherboard for it, and last night went through the trouble of replacing it.
Well, now it works! WooHoo! But ... the LCD displays only garbage. At boot it displays nothing but black, but when the OS loads it displays gray and shades of gray.
I think the problems is most likely the cable going from the laptop to the LCD ... hopefully that all it is. My friend never had problems with the LCD. Plugging the computer in to a When I plug the computer into a monitor it's fine.
Would anyone have any advise or suggestions? Is there some trick I can do to make what I have work? A way to replace the cable?
