msi 1029..

So i have an abs laptop which uses the msi 1029. my laptops been sitting for months because it stopped working and i havent put any time into figuring out what the deal with it is. So before it stopped working i noticed it ran hot alot, so i figured the mobo may have fried. But what it does now, is it only turns on when its plugged into the wall, and when it does that, all i have is a black screen, the disk drive doesnt open, but i can hear the hd spinning. Any ideas what the problem is? Also, i cant find this mobo anywhere online so any help would be nice.

imo i would say it needs to go back to msi. sound to me lke the mobo may have a problem. if it worked when being plugged in without any other issues id say you need a new battery but that would not cause the black screen issue imo. msi was very nice to deal with when i spoke with them. i would give them a call.

 

everything else in it works, i think its just a dead mobo, someone quoted me about $269 for the board..if i sold for parts how much do you think i should try starting off at? i bought it $1200 brand new..
