I tried this in the averatec section with ZERO responses. Maybe you guys might have some ideas.

I just recently reaquired my 2155 from my mom. Specs are:
    2155
    mt40
    2gb ram
    ati200m
    everything else is standard.

The issue Im having is that randomly it will crash. No BSoD, no errors on reboot, I get a white screen or something looking like lined paper. Its weird as I have never seen anything like it. It happens during the use of standard or after market drivers. Im at a total loss as the laptop works flawess for everything, except when it does this. Id really like get this fixed as after the acer hdd crashing I need this to work. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue but it would white screen for less than a second then blank screen ......
Mine turned out to be a poorly seated screen plug.
    add some more info...
    how long after bootup?
    can you reboot right away?
was the system idling or under load?
has the system ever been apart?
does this happen with different screen angles or when moving the screen angle?

maybe u got the same issue discussed in this thread time ago.

if so then the solution is installing the beta bios(4.31 or 6.71 depending on your chipset) and setting the ram freq. to 333Mhz.

you can also find chipset identification utility and beta bios in tht thread.

Ill check that thread out. Im leaning twards the screen or bad ram as it was PQI and Ive had issues before. But keep the ideas coming!

Its random, could be right after or 30min later.

I have to power off withthe button, and it comes right back up as if nothing happened.

It happens at both times, load and idle

    Yes when I installed the MT40 and ddr333 2gb.

I have been told moving the screen can sometimes triger it; although I have not been able to replicate this.

    Hey!

I have the same Lappy but with the MT28. I remember a lot of people had big problems with the MT40, which I believe were cooling related. There were also many issues as I recall with memory. Try running memtest86. Let it run for a while. I'd bet that thats your problem as I had the same problem with mine. Anyway, best of luck to you...

No but I had 1 year of stability before the issues arose. Im leaning towards the crappy PQI ram I installed, and while replacing the ram Ill check the video connection.

Yeah I recall issues with people trying to use 400mhz ram and having problems. Mine is at 333mhz, but I say in the thread linked above there have been known issues with this system and PQI ram.

Moral of the story: Spend the extra money for quality ram, first time buying cheapo ram and it comes back to bite me. The $30 last year woulda saved me $200 in parts replacment.
