So I just bought a new gx640-260US. Had it for a week now and I know this machine is made for gaming but the problem is I couldnt game properly on it at all. Whenver I play CS:Source, Battlefield 2, BF 2142, Bad Company 2, L4D2, my screen lags. It's like when im walking around, I get teleported back where I was a second ago. This happens every 30 secs or so on every game I listed above.

This couldnt be my internet connection because I have been gaming on my macbook pro, with Win7 installed via bootcamp and I did not experience any lag on these games at all. Also, my brother with a Gateway FX laptop shares the same connection doesnt experience any lag at all. Furthermore, my latency/ping on these games are <100 all the time. But its that 1 sec lag that kills me!

I have updated the GPU drivers and bios to the latest version. The laptop has no problem running these games on max settings. Im connected to a linksys router but again, my brothers laptop and my macbook pro doesnt get any lag at all.

Any thoughts on this? Any input is appreciated

Hey bimmerboii, i have had a friend having this problem with windows vista,

Sometimes it could be the wifi card hardware but the wifi (Protocol?) has active scanning every 30 seconds or some on vista (it may be in 7 too) and may need turning off,

Once my friend did this he was lag free :).

I can't remember the tool however perhaps google may be of more assistance then i am right now, if your question remains unanswered and unfixed tommorow i will get in touch with the guy i know with the tool!

    Cheers
    Cata.

u should play those games in single player (the ones that you can anyways) to make sure it's not a problem with your gpu/cpu.

Tried everything but couldnt seem to fix the problem.. The wifi card that came with my gx640-260us is the Intel 5100 AGN. I read somewhere on this forum that someone changed the his wifi card of his gx640 (but I couldnt find the post anymore). Can someone point me to the right direction. I think ill just replace the thing..

    edit: found it http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/486587-gx-640-ultimate-n-6300-wifi-upgrade.html

Do you still lag when using ethernet instead of wifi?

I would suggest connecting via a ethernet cable just to isolate the issue that is laptop issue / wifi issue / modem card issue. My guess is that you should not see the same issue when you connect via a ethernet cable, which would mean that you just need a wifi-fix. Ill research more and post about it :).

Is this an isolated event or is this a widespread plague?

The stock wifi card is an Intel 5100 a/g/n if I remember correctly.

You could try updateing the drivers and/or installing the Intel ProSet/Wirelss Suite and let that manage your connections/access instead of Windows.

EDIT: Just got my GX640 last night . . . haven't loaded any online FPS games up yet, but I will give it a try with some steam apps.
