    how difficult would it be to install an intel ultimate wifi card in the gx740?

    Nothing difficult there. I have one (ultimate-N 6300 to be exact) in my MS-1727, which is the same as GX740, and it works fine. No difficulties with installation whatsoever. The laptop has mounting holes for both full height and half height mini PCIe cards.

    It might be hard to connect the antennas if it is your first time, but once you get that its easy.

    Since we're on the subject, why do people insist on replacing the Intel 5100 AGN card that comes with the laptop? Is there something wrong with it?

    The laptop has 3 internal antennas, whereas 5100 utilizes only 2 of them. 5300 or 6300 utilize 3 antennas, which results in better signal reception. There's nothing wrong with the 5100 card though :).

    I see. It's probably to take advantage of the MIMO functionalities of Wireless N. It won't make a difference on a G network, though. Thanks!
