Hello! My laptop is MSI GL62MVR 7RFX (i7-7700HQ + 1060). I'm still using 2400 Mhz 8GB single-channel RAM, which is basically unacceptable in 2021. So, I was thinking about upgrading RAM to 16GB 3200 Mhz 2-rank 2-channel, but the problem is that modern 3200 Mhz RAM modules require Xmp profiles support. Unfortunately, I haven't found Xmp profile option in neither usual nor advanced BIOS on my laptop. Does it mean that I should just buy the RAM I wanted and overclock it to similar options by my hands via advanced BIOS options? Or maybe BIOS update could help to add Xmp profiles support option?

There are options for JEDEC spec 3200mhz which i believe is what you need

Upgrading to DDR4-3200 RAM might not be the best idea. Your 7700HQ officially supports up to DDR-2400. You might be able to get a 3200 kit to work at 2400 speeds, but with a locked CPU and no motherboard support for that standard, it looks like a headache waiting to happen. My recommendation is to get a 2400 kit like this one or this one, that will very likely run at its rated speed out of the box.

Yes, I've checked 7700HQ specifications as well, but 2400mhz support looks more like a recommendation, not a restriction. For example, people in this thread(page 13) were overclocking laptop RAM to 3000-3400 Mhz and it worked, despite the fact that i7-8750H officially supports up to DDR4-2666.

here depends on memory type .,.,Ranks / Banks /SLOT usage .,,.and your notebook is probably LOCKED for RAM OC "lower VR setup for SA or in EC fw "

    CPU ,..,37.5 GB/s - is max "theoretical" - in my GT75 7RE .,,.2800-2933MHZ 2x 16GB 2R memory + fast timing 35-37 GB/s "from 35GB/s+ scale up very slow
    7820HK - 4.5GHZ /4.2 uncore - 90W

try your ram "oem" + OC
you no need this special ram "probarly works identical"

remove all OC lock / enable OC TAB - here try new profile from 1.2V VDD "others is locked"
and must little add voltage on SA domain "from1.05V" - 1.1,.1.15V max for notebook "2800-2933+" or fast timings

    / edit
1R memory - easier get more clock "but has similar performance" 2R on lower clock
1R memory is good when have 4x slot usage -example

best is 2R memory "your range 2400-2666 MHZ is absolute OK" but timing CL14-16-xx or CL16-18-xx

and try bench vs your OEM  ,,.,still have locked CPU !
IMON "this remove PL limits".,.or must use BCLK for CPU OC "but this not recommended !"
and FCLK - 1GHZ "little helps" ,.,temperatures max 90C "94C PROCHOT" ,.,.,.etc

it doesn't make sense to list it .,,.,need only your OC skill for good results !

try this before spending money ;)

this bench compare only similar devices ,.,best for fast determine your performance status / problems
all in green zone "or on first place" - good results

all problematic components - maintenance or OC .,.,etc
good is run HWINFO + sensor in background or LOG -- for full information
