The Cinema Pro II program from MSI's website doesn't work. It'll install, but it won't open. It shows up in the directory where it's supposed to, and it also shows up under "uninstall program" in control panel. There is no start menu, quicklaunch, or desktop icon, and when I click on the .exe nothing happens.
I've also tried VLC, but it gives me some weird error when I try to open a blu ray disc. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions to get blu ray playback going?
Also, I've read that some people have had success getting THX to work on their barebones, but I'm not one of them. Any good tutorial or how-to for this?
I have the setup in my signature.
Thanks in advance.

On the Force 16-F2 I have a triangular shaped power button, a button that turns the webcam on/off to the right of it, and a button with a windows logo on it. I'm not entirely sure what that key does, but it doesn't toggle Cinema Pro II. When I click on the applications in the folder (Cinema ProII controller and Cinema ProII) the processes start and show up in task manager, but the actual application never loads.

Here is my bar....very different from the MSI branded one. The two buttons on the left do absolutely nothing. Just place holders with no function built in underneath.

I didn't realize there's a different Control Bar.

Your pic is the 1761. The bar is apparently very different between the 1761 and 16-F2.

The more time goes by the more I wish I would've gotten the 1761. It seems "less" barebones than the 16-F2.

How about in the System Control Manager?
MSI Global ? Notebook - GT683DX(GT683DXR) -
blu-ray playback (i believe) will require a purchased dedicated bluray player software. It does not come with the computer despite having purchased a bluray player optical drive. Someone correct me if I am wrong because I would love to find a way to play them for free myself as I am in the same boat as you lilysdad.
As for cinema button it just launches your media player - not really that big of a deal. For me it launched windows media player. -

MSI Global ? Download Center
After it's installed there may be cheap offers to upgrade to v11. -
Whenever I try to use VLC for blu ray playback I get this error:
Blu-Ray error:
This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///D:/'. Check the log for details.
Any idea what that means and how to fix it? -

Did you purchase a BD drive bundled with your notebook? If so it should have come with BD OEM software, If it did not contact your reseller. Cimema Pro is only audio/video enhancement software. -
@Rob, yes I did. I will do that. Thanks.

now, in order for ANY msi UI application to work u need to download system control manager. that should do tha trick.
for bluray playback i suggest u get windvd11 since it brings its own coded library and once u install it ur good to go with any blu ray player. -

Try Before You Buy Blu ray Playback Software:
PowerDVD 12:
Multimedia Software, video editing software, Blu-ray playback software Free Trial - Cyberlink
WinDVD Pro 11:
Corel WinDVD Pro 11 - The #1 Video, DVD and Blu-ray Player Software -
WinDVD works so I'll probably end up going with it.
