I don't know about 675mx or 675m. However I don't find it worth it to use those GPU's.
7970m is extremely easy to do, however. Just purchase whatever model of 7970m you find, get a modded 5870 heatsink or a stock 7970m heatsink (you can find them on the marketplace of nbr), stick them in and boot.
You can buy the heatsinks here on the forum marketplace.
You can buy the GPU from ebay, other forums, or on the marketplace here.

Depeding on the kind of heatsink you use, you may need to also stock up on thermal pads.

    That's it.

how about bios and other software settings ? (how to aply them)

excuse me are you sure 7970m will work on gt660

is there anyway to find stock 7970m heatsink on ebay for gt660 ?

will gt660 need more powerfull PSU for 7970M ?
    thanks

Bios is irrelevant. That's the great part about MSI's.
The motherboard is the 16F1, identical to mine, and therefore 100% compatible.
The heatsinks are hard to find on ebay, however you can buy it from the forum from:

    Pa1low - 100% trustworthy, always recommended - http://forum.notebookreview.com/com...fs-custom-msi-hd7970m-heatsink-brand-new.html
Majster MSI - I don't personally know him, but he seems alright - http://forum.notebookreview.com/com...0m-560m-580m-5870m-460m-670m-675m-680m-2.html

Pa1low has a modded heatsink. This is not an enhancement. It's a 5870 modified to fit the 7970. It probably requires a bit more thermal tape, but performance should be about the same.
Majster has stock ones. These are the new model heatsinks designed to fit the 7970m

If you have the 140W PSU it should be alright so long as you don't use both the 7970m AND an extreme-series CPU AND overclock them both.

I use the 140W PSU with undervolted 7970m and overclocked 920xm cpu.

    It's a beast.

You don't need to worry about any other settings than installing the 12.11 beta drivers.

Regarding the 7970m card, you can buy whichever. They're all identical in shape and can switch vBios if needed.

Slightly different issue for myself. I have a medion x6811 i7 with stock 460m and have recently purchased a 670mx which i got for a fairly good price. I had no problems with adapting the 460m heatsink, and using GPU-z and editing an .inf file got the 670mx recognised and all seemed well.... for about 30mins. I then got the dreaded white screen, and then on re-booting would sometimes get the PSU light turning off and laptop wouldn't start up. I'm thinking I may need a larger capacity PSU? Perhaps a 180w (currently using stock PSU). Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Sangmaru, I see you have or had an x6811 with a 7970m, did you also have power problems? I'm not overclocking anything....yet!

Any 5.5*2.5mm barrel 180w 19v or 19.5v will be fine.

It is interesting you have a kepler chip working in an older series since the 675MX and 680M have issues, mind posting up your vbios?

Waiting on the PSU to turn up and have just had a baby in last couple of weeks, so as soon as the PSU turns up and I have a spare hour or two i'll put the 670mx back in, see how it works and put up my vbios. The 670mx came from an Alienware M17XR2, once i'd changed the .inf file in the nvidia folder it recognised the 670mx and I was able to run the hitman absolution benchmark..... it crashed after that!

I'm new to the laptop scene, have been building desktops since I was young, but have never played with vbios. I've done plenty of reading and I think i'm right in saying that clevo vbios can work in my medion for some GPU's? Haven't found many threads concerned with MSi/Medions upgrading to 670mx's?

Vbios tend to be card, system and revision of said bios specific as to if it will work or not.

It will be down to the vbios being used.

Yes i am sure that it is about vbios
    i got an answer here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/676685-16f1-upgrade-7970m.html#post9580119
and try to find out if it is possible to flash the mentioned DELL vbios on the MSI card ...
If you have any remarks pls post it there. I try to get the info together.

Now it looks that MSI Card will not work in 16f1 (MSI GT660 / Medion x6811 )
