Yeah, I got the msi branded backpack together with my GX640. Maybe it's not very durable, but I don't carry my notebook too much :)

I bought European version in Czech Republic. Differences are:
*2 year warranty instead of american 3
*bundled Backpack, MSI gaming mouse and HDMI cable.

Everything else is the same i guess.

Nowhere in NA has the backpack.

I'm looking around for backpacks now. ebags.com is a good place to start looking

What is nice about your GX640 is that it is so slim and the dimensions on par with business/slim notebooks, you should be able to use ANY backpack that claims to fit a 15" notebook easily.

Just look on Amazon for some good prices. You should be able to find a nice one.

Some like backpacks from this company called Slappa. http://www.slappa.com/
Others seem to like the Dell/XPS/Alienware bags. Dell backpacks
My G73 backpack is made by Targus and know some others that use Targus backpacks: Targus @ Amazon

    Good luck.

Believe this is the MSI backpack in case you want to know what it looks like.

Targus is a good choice. I have been using an Asus branded Targus bag for the last almost three years, and it's worked very well. Now that I sold the Asus, the MSI is inhabiting the bag on my trips.

All you need to do is go to ebags, look up the gx640 and write down the dimensions and go compare

Ha, yeah, I know what you mean. I did have a over the shoulder messenger bag for a while but after 3 miles of walking commute every day for a few weeks I noticed one of my shoulders was slowly moving to join my hips. The backpack is not ideal but it takes the stress off my shoulders and I end up getting better sleep at night.

I tend to prefer backpacks since they're much better at distributing the load between your shoulders. Of course, a smaller and lighter backpack is better, though.

What about laptop sleeves? Has anyone found one that fits the GX640 with the extended battery?

Would one have to buy a 16 or a 17inch sleeve for the GX?

Because of the extended battery you might. I have a laptop sleeve from my old 17". You can see that the GX640 is A LOT narrower lengthwise but in terms of width is pretty much the same as the 17"

The bag that I have is by a brand called incase, who specialize in making bags, sleeves, protectors etc. for Mac products, however a backpack will obviously work for any laptop (that fits).

This is the one that I have:
Canvas Backpack for All MacBooks : Incase Product

It is a little pricey but I love it. Very comfortable and fits the GX640 perfectly. However, it does not have pockets dedicated to the power supply and a mouse like some computer bags do but this doesn't both me.

They also have a less expensive, non-coated (less water resistant than the coated bags):
Backpack for All MacBooks : Incase Product
