From what I've read most laptops will use optic or coax through the 3.5mm jack.

When I plug a jack in, it does ask what im using!

The question is can I switch from optic to coax in the setup somewhere that I missed?

It does light up for optic, but I dont have an optic input for the home theater, and the coax isn't producing sound. Does this mean it is sending only optic?

I tried reading the manual on the cd, and the web site, both seem to lack info needed.

I can't even find registration for the warrenty on the webpage..and get conflicting messages weather its needed for the warrenty to be valid.
