    gts 250m in gx630? or 4650

    I was wondering if a gts 250m or a ati 4650 would work in the msi gx630? thanks

    did the 250m ever come in the mxm2.1 flavor?
    I thought it was just mxm3.0.

    The 4650 has a really good chance of working, might not even need a heatsink mod.

    Oh i just realized that lol. heres the spec's of the 4650. i dont know if he means mxm 3.0 or type 3. Memory type: DDR3
    PCI-E 2.0 x16, MXM-III A type
    Core speed/Shader speed: 550 MHz
    Memory Speed: 800 MHz
    DirectX 10.1, Shader 4.1, OpenGL 2.0, Powerplay, DisplayPort (2560x1600)/HDMI (1920x1080) w/ 7.1 AC3 Audio

    Looks like he means mxm3.0 because he said "A type".

    If your heatsink is similar to the GX620, you could try using a GT627 heatsink and an MXM2.1 type III card like a 9800m GS or GTS 160m or if you want to take a risk try a 3700m or 3600m (the 3600m from HP is cheap on ebay, like $100).
    Or you could try an ATI 3870 or 4850.

    There are a lot of options but it's hard to say for sure if some will work or not.
    If you can buy a card from a place that lets you return it, that might be the way to go just in case it doesn't work.

    hw much is the power brick in gx620? If its same as gt725 or something then a heatsink mod with a powerful notebook cooler will fit a HD 4850.
