Hi
I was wondering if a gts 250m or a ati 4650 would work in the msi gx630? thanks

did the 250m ever come in the mxm2.1 flavor?
I thought it was just mxm3.0.
The 4650 has a really good chance of working, might not even need a heatsink mod. -
Oh i just realized that lol. heres the spec's of the 4650. i dont know if he means mxm 3.0 or type 3. Memory type: DDR3
PCI-E 2.0 x16, MXM-III A type
Core speed/Shader speed: 550 MHz
Memory Speed: 800 MHz
DirectX 10.1, Shader 4.1, OpenGL 2.0, Powerplay, DisplayPort (2560x1600)/HDMI (1920x1080) w/ 7.1 AC3 Audio

Looks like he means mxm3.0 because he said "A type".
If your heatsink is similar to the GX620, you could try using a GT627 heatsink and an MXM2.1 type III card like a 9800m GS or GTS 160m or if you want to take a risk try a 3700m or 3600m (the 3600m from HP is cheap on ebay, like $100).
Or you could try an ATI 3870 or 4850.
There are a lot of options but it's hard to say for sure if some will work or not.
If you can buy a card from a place that lets you return it, that might be the way to go just in case it doesn't work. -
hw much is the power brick in gx620? If its same as gt725 or something then a heatsink mod with a powerful notebook cooler will fit a HD 4850.

where could i find a gt725 heatsink? thanks
-
also how well does the nvidia fx play games?

First I'm pretty sure you need the GT627 heatsink and not the GT725.
They are hard to find, the only one I can see right now is this:
MSI GT627 Fan-Heatsink Assembly For CPU And VGA Adapter
Not cheap.
Nvidia Quadro FX cards play games just as well as their geforce counterparts.
There is no difference.
EDIT: Is this a photo of your notebook:

If it is, I don't think there is a heatsink you can use.
