the motherboard is idling around 55-60*C, under load goes up to 65-70*C... CPU, graphics, HDs all idling around 35-50*C. anyone have any idea why the mobo is so hot? it hasn't really caused any problems so far, outside of when i put it under significant load such as games... then the laptop freezes up (video or/and audio) and when i move the mouse or press keys, it'll beep.
have the laptop on a cooler too, so i'm a bit confused as to why it's doing this... anyone have any ideas, before i end up just buying another laptop?![]()

Any uncommon noise or vibrations from the fan? That happened to mine. Some dust maybe?

no really obvious strange noises coming out now, though before there was a sound that kind of sounded like light clicking (as if the hard drive was doing something... but it wasn't, and the HD seems okay). the exhaust vents don't look dusty, and i've tried blowing into them and nothing comes out..
it's just kind of weird that the mobo is heating up while everything else seems relatively okay... i would have expected the CPU to overheat if the fans failed or something first -

It could be the southbridge, northbridge or chipset.
Normally only the chipset requires cooling, but I've noticed on my gt627 the southbridge gets quite hot.
Check the thermal pad under the chipset, also feel the nb and sb while the notebook is running. Try to determine the source of heat. It could also be power components.
Whatever it is, you can probably add some copper ramsinks or improve cooling somehow otherwise to solve the problem. -
i apologize for sounding like a complete retard, but would i have to open (i.e. break the warranty seal) the laptop to do so? if it means anything, the part of the adapter plug that enters the laptop gets really hot when running on AC power, almost unbearable to touch for long durations of time... the surrounding area of the laptop feels quite warm as well. running on battery, the mobo cools down to around 45*C, but can still spike up to 50*C easily when i put it under light load

Northbridge is piped, i'd imagine temperatures are being read from there, the SB will most likely be cool, but can get occasionally warm.
You could attempt a CPU undervolt, the 1722 consists of two main pipes, one to the GPU and one over the North Bridge and CPU, undervolting the CPU will have an effect on the rest of the pipe allowing the NB to drop a few C too.
