    Hi,
I own a gt683dx (ms-16f21) and due to a bad BIOS flash I bricked the mobo and had to replace it.
I bought one of Ebay and it was listed as new, so a couple of days ago when I replaced it I saw that the connection for the led was missing, it should be soldered on the right of the wlan card.

Anyway, when I was done and pushed the powerbutton the hdd light flashed a couple of times and the fan sounded like it should when the computer is booting
but no display or POST, beeps, nothing..

The touchpanel didn't work either so I did a little research and my guess is the little sold be a motherboard for a msi barebone.

It says ms-16f21 version : 1.1 and my original was 1.2, is there a way for me to make this work somehow?
I've ordered a BIOS chip for gt683dx which I plan to replace.

I've been up all night trying to do a boot block recovery but with no avail.

You probably got the barebone version of the mainboard instead of branded version since they are not exactly the same. some barebone mainboard doesn't even have connector from the board to the touch panel.

However, the laptop should still boot if the mainboard and your CPU, RAM and Video card still working. So most likely it's a defective mainboard just like majster msi said.

Also most laptop mainboard don't make error beep like desktop mainboards.

Some recovery places will actually remove and manually program the chip.

I would open a paypal dispute right now if I were you.

You can rescue your old mainboard if you are 100% sure that you failed flash bios. If you want I can do it but you have PM me ;). It was no sense you bought new one.

Yeah I will take it to a repair shop with a new programmed chip I ordered, will it work with a gt683 programmed one since it's most likely a barebone mobo?

I'll have to open two paypal disputes..
I first bought a motherboard from super-laptop-parts.com and they sent me a too old version that's not even sandy bridge and had to send a million emails to get them to recognize it..

Ended up sending it back following their instructions to declair it to only 10$ but they said it never showed up and they refuse me a refund.
    Never buy anything from them..

I live in Sweden so there aren't too many options for me.

You should be able to hand them the board and a file of the bios you want flashed on it and them program it in for you.

So rather than a swap they just force flash your original chip in a special programming unit.

All right thnx dude. I've been thinking about buying a programmer and 8-pin sop8, soic clamps for flashing VBIOS on card and so on, any idea if these work as good as advertised?

I've not done it myself so I am not 100% sure, but so long as you know how the chip is programmed (different makes will be different) then it should work.

That would suck. Only card I could test it with is a Asus 460m but I don't think it would fit due to their weird shapes.

You don`t listen what peoples are talking to you. It wasn`t bios problem from the beginning. You are generating only costs but it is your choice.
