Ok, I've searched and can't seem to find much on this as far as the how, plenty on that it is a good idea.

So I have a GT-780R with an Intel N-1030 card and want to replace it with an N-6230 to gain access to the 5Ghz band. Found the card easy enough, but don't know if I need to buy the antenna that is sold seperately.

Also, I have been looking for a guide to disassemble, like there was for my G73 and can't seem to find one.

Anyways any help would be nice.

You wont need to add an additional antenna to get the 6230 card to work properly. It only needs 2 antenna which should already be installed in your computer.

I'm not aware of a disassembly guide but if you've located with wireless card all you have to is remove it and put in the new one, attach the antenna leads, install the drivers and you should be good to go.

You have to pry the touch button panel up from just above the keyboard. I usually just stick a small flathead in the bottom right of the panel and pry upwards. Once you get the first corner to pop up, gently lift up on the other sides and it will come off. The wificard is right underneath, and is usually held in by one screw. The antennas just pop right off the card.

Ok that sounds easier than G73. Thanks for the info, the card should be here soon.

It is quick and easy, just remember to download the drivers from intel so that the new card can be recognized.

i'd recommend doing a fresh windows install after that so the new card wont show up as wireless network 2 or 3. But thats just me. Also download the driver and save it to a flash drive first.
