Have you considered looking into GT series as well? It has better cooling than GE series.

It's a very good platform, a nice bump up from the ge series.

The GT70 and GT60 are better choices for gaming. They are very similar to each other, biggest difference is just the screen size. They do have better cooling as well as better GPU's which really determines how well the games will perform.

Gaming laptops in general run pretty hot as most of them run the CPU and GPU off 1 fan. In comparison, a typical gaming desktop has 1 giant heatsink for the CPU, 2 or 3 fans for GPU, 1 fan for the PSU, and 3 or 4 fans around the case.

If you're going to game for a few hours, you should probably look into the GS70, which has 2 fans. After a few hours, the difference of temperature between the GT and GE series is almost negligible; they will both be pretty toasty. Rest assured the components won't be affected at those temperatures, it's mostly a worry for sweaty hands if you're using the built-in keyboard. If you're using an external keyboard, it really doesn't matter how hot the laptop gets since you wont' be touching it.

The gt series cooling far outstrips that of the gs series too.

I have the GE60-20E and have not had any issues playing COH2, Diablo 2, SC2, AOE3, Torchlight2 etc. No FPS but all work well on high except COH2 which is set to Med.

Depends on what you want to spend and what type of games you play. The exhaust vent on the left is warm but I've not noticed any throttling or slow downs that I could attribute to overheating.

    Cheers,

Does it? Assuming no cooler boost 2, I would think it would be worse than GS70's dual fan configuration.

The gt 60 can cool 160w of heat generation (more if handled correctly) so yeah its a different class.

Number of fans is a bit like having more cpu cores. Give me a nice fat core i7 core over a couple of atom cores.

Welp, that's good to know thanks. I always assumed my living in Canada was the reason why the notebook was so cool.

Did you mean to say Diablo 3? I would assume any laptop made after 2005 would be able to run Diablo 2 without a sweat xD.
