Shouldn't if you don't break it.

You'll want to keep your original out of the box configuration MSI parts for any future warranty / RMA work by MSI.

MSI doesn't like supporting anything except the out of the box OS and hardware, so when you ship it back for RMA back up your OS and restore the Recovery OS to the original disk(s) and replace your new memory with the original memory for the RMA.

That's also a good idea to try before contacting MSI for an RMA problem, test using original RAM and OS to see if the problem persists, or if the problem goes away.

Pre-debugging before contacting the vendor is always a good idea, to save both of you from wasting your time :)

I'm keeping the stock 512GB SSD, adding 2x Samsung Pro nvme(pcie), and replacing the 1TB HDD with a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, that wouldn't void the warranty would i?

As long as you don't damage your original laptop components while in there working, you are fine. Don't drop a screwdriver into the innards ;)

@hmscott you forgot about the "Don't stab the innards with a screwdriver, whilst trying to unscrew something." However to the OP so long as your laws permit so long as your do not damage any hardware that was originally installed in the system your warranty is safe.

If thats not the case mine was void when i go mine home and repasted the GPU plus CPU, then upgraded its sexy M.2 SSD's followed by replacing the DVD-Rom drive with a 2.5" HDD with an ODD caddy.

Just remember before working on the laptop to discharge all power and carefully remove the battery cable from its socket as not to damage anything in the laptop.

Also make sure you take photo's to aid putting the laptop back together correctly and Always use a ESD Strap!

I had two msi laptops previously (gt70 0nc and gs70 2qe). I opened both of them and nothing really went wrong.

Once, I had to get my gs70 fixed. So I dropped mine off at the msi's depot because of an issue m.2 wireless card. (wireless card disappearing after sleep). It was under warranty at that time.
I opened it up previously and took out one of the msata for my other pc and blew dust out several times.

They just asked if it was done by a technician. I just said that local computershop (canadacomputers) did it. (eventhough it was removal of a part, not installation or modification). They accepted it and I came back several days later to pick it up.

I didn't ship it. I talked to a person face-to-face at the msi office.

I had added 16GB of RAM, a SSD, and replaced my WiFi card twice. After the second WiFi replacement, it wouldn't boot. I just sent it in with everything as I had it. MSI replaced the motherboard and processor and cleaned it up, and everything was fine.

Main thing is they just won't warranty any parts you add to it, but they have no issues fixing anything else.
