I've been reading Ppl with the higher end gt72 like 445us having issues with very bad light bleeding on the ips panels! Now I'm thinking on buying one instead of the lower configurationffor the better cpu and ips panel, but if their all having issues I'll pass and stick with a TN panel!

I'm not too sure why having an IPS panel is such a big deal anyways especially if it's build into the notebook itself. If it was external then I would probably get an IPS or some super high quality or frequency screen but at 17.3 inches, you're most likely not going to be too far away from the screen anyways or at odd angles. I would save the money and go with the T/N panel and put that money towards an external monitor that can do 144Hz or IPS or with 3D technology.

IPS type panels always will have more light bleed then TN, its just a characteristic of them. I haven't heard of any issues with excessive for IPS though.
Picture quality is better though. If you do not need the better color representation for things like photo editing then a TN would be just fine.

One thing to consider goes back to what Hutsady said; are these people ACTUALLY receiving IPS panels with excessive bleeding ─ especially asymmetrical bleeding? Or is it all uniform? If it's the latter, then that's likely typical IPS glow, and some people might be unaware that it's a common characteristic, not defective hardware.

What I'm reading is yellow light in the corners

Some people seem to have a display being held too tightly by the bezel which is causing more light bleed in the corners (since apparently manipulating the corner stops it) but I don't believe this is universal to all machines.

Fwiw, mine had distinct yellow coloring in the upper left and right corners. I'm quite familiar with the usual IPS glow and am perfectly fine with minimal bleeding. These corners were so bad that it looked like a ray of sunshine on a dark game screen. Again, well above the level of normal IPS glow. It was definitely an installation issue because I could press different areas of the bezel and it would go away. Other than that the screen is gorgeous.

    IPS is a must upgrade.
I wouldnt buy a computer with standard lacky TN display if IPS was also offered on the same model.

You spend pretty much all time on the computer staring at the screen. One of the most important hardware on a machine. Colour accuracy, sharpness and viewing angles are just much better with IPS.

That said, I do not support MSI`s practice of shoving excessive hardware down your throat just to get access to this IPS display. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing this
