I have this issue, my laptop is a msi gx630 and has vista home premium installed on the computer. I don't have the recovery disc because it didn't come with the laptop. If I buy vista home premium will it automatically fix this issue?

You dont have to buy vista, you can download the image for free:

Burn a disk, then you should be able to use it to repair the OS.
BTW you do not need a key to just repair the OS. -

No, if it was working fine at one point then you dont need to update the bios to get it back to the original config.
But updating the bios wont hurt.
