    considering purchasing this.

it's between this, the best buy asus jh and the qosmio with the i5 and gtx460

I know the qosmio is cheap plastic but runs really nice, the build quality looks slightly better on the asus but I hear of many issues.

should I think about MSI? it's the most expensive of the 3 with 2gb less ram than one.

i'd like to hear some owners opinions.

    Thank you,

    -Portola Street

if the MSI is already the most expensive you can stop considering it.

because it's supposed to be the most economic option. You buy it because it's cheap. If it's not cheap, there's better options.

it's also not an apples to apples comparison between it and the asus g71jhbst
It has a better screen. less ram and a slower cpu, but a better screen.

the GX740 does not have an exceptional screen.

    but it's 1680 x 1050 instead of 1600 x 900

    I like the 16:10 ratio.

Dude.... what I want to know is this. Flat out.

Is this a decent laptop for 1300.00, is it going to work and give me few if any problems? Is it built nice? thin and cheap like toshiba or better build quality?

Or is it going to be just as many headaches as the asus.

Considering the difference in price between the Best Buy ASUS G73JX for $850 and the MSI, I would pick up the ASUS in a heartbeat. A few simple steps i.e a BIOS flash with the ASUS should not be a problem. You save about $400. No laptop is perfect, there are always a few niggles to sort out. A great price invariably goes a long way to help you come to terms with any minor issues.

Flat out for 1300 it will likely not give you any problems.

The build quality is good and it will last as long as you don't abuse it.
