Laptop was getting full up and acting a bit weird so I used burn recovery to make the 6 dvd recovery disks. I booted from the dvd and after about an hour it says the recovery has failed and I need to boot from disc 1 again. It never gets passed this (tried about 6 times) and cant find any BIOS options that seem immediately obvious. I accidentally made 6 copies of disc 1 and none work (so I know it isn't a damaged disk). Now I can't boot the PC as windows looks like it has been wiped. I'm at the stage of reluctantly buying a windows 8.1 disk but if anyone can offer ideas to get it working, I'd be very grateful, I really don't fancy the £75 for the OEM when this should work. Cheers in advance

Oh, and I tried it in legacy mode, but it didn't even recognise it as a system disk.

If you have the stock hard drive in there you can try the built in restore console. With the computer off, turn it on and continually press F3. That should get you into the restore console.

Odd its usually F2 that gets you into the BIOS. Try F2 maybe?

In this case, since you've already performed the recovery using the first disc, the internal recovery is pretty much gone since it wasn't completed. Best to contact MSI directly to request for he recovery discs, charges may apply since it's a service they provide.

Built-in recovery mode is F3 key, if it didn't work that means the HDD is blanked out.
Best to call MSI to obtain the original discs.

If you have access to another computer you could burn an ISO from microsoft and use your key to activate it.

Sure, users can do that but there will be other potential issues on top of installation hassle.
    - Mismatching edition and product key will render the system unable to activate.
    - Need to install drivers.
    - Need to install applications.
