Eurocom have the hd4870 in MXM-III format. I guess one could get it and underclock and undervolt it to hd4850 levels. They also have the gtx260 and gtx280m in MXM-III. They are pretty darn expensive though...

Eurocom has the 3.0b version which will not work in the 1722 models. it has to be MXM 2.1 Type III.

They have both for the Nvidia cards. Go see for yourself. It's under VGA technology. http://web.eurocom.com/ec/ecu_model_config1(1,0,0)

Yes they have 2 versions of the GTX 260m and 280m.. But they only have the 4870 in the MXM 3.0B version which will not fit the 1722 and is way over priced...

Sometimes you can contact a reseller, say, of a computer with whatever MXM card you want and ask them to sell it to you. :)
