Not to dump on my not yet gotten whitebook but that MSI looks way better than mine :( cheaper too :( :( I hope I will be able to upgrade to the 4850 series when they come out. :( :( :( Though I love the fact that I can upgrade the heck out of mine :) :) :)

already don't like how that came out.

toshiba just did the same thing with their new 9800m gts sli laptop. people thought they were shipping with all kinds of stuff that it didn't come with....

and 512? they must be holding the 4870's for 1024. i would hope.
else they are pulling an nvidia and just re branding a chip...lol (speculation of course) because as of right now..512 isn't cutting it for gta4, right about now. now after this second patch...maybe.

well after the ocz is updated if they do dual 4850 with 512 each i would for sure assume it would still outperform the 3870's..since they are also 512 on each card

Are you kidding me? Even if the new ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4850 was equipped with 1GB DDR3 of VRAM, it still wouldn't be able to effectively use that much of memory, at least not with its 256-bit memory buss.

sorry to be the barer of bad news.
think you better retract that statement. gta4 now will use all available memory on a card. so if it has 1 gig, then it will use every bit of that one gig.

I'm not talking about GTA4, I'm talking in general about GPU's with 256-bit memory bus not being able to effectively use 1GB of VRAM. The same would apply to 128-bit GPU's not being able to make full use of 512MB of VRAM. Now on the other hand a desktop card like the Geforce GTX 280 with 512-bit memory bus type and 1GB of VRAM could make sufficient use of the installed memory.

that's the old way of thinking. i use to think like that as well. but newer games and multi-threaded applications are changing that old style of thinking. so why limit your self in thinking like that.? i mean, to each his own though....

and i have a gtx280 as well and running gta4 it does the same exact thing.
