So I just got my new MSI GS70 & I love it but unfortunately there is 1 problem... the CPU fan sometimes randomly starts even when I am just browsing the internet & that noise is a little annoying

I don't mind it when I'm gaming but I prefer it to be silent when I'm just browsing the internet... so is there a way to turn off the fan when I'm browsing?

Not without a BIOS mod. 95% of Laptop fans use either a firmware (i.e. EC based) feedback loop for fan control, a few select models even use a hardwired feedback loop. For OS support, unless the fan feedback loop has a channel for additional software input (i.e. proprietary OS accessible PWM) or is ACPI based (you can use a modded ACPI table), you're out of luck.

You can always DIY a resistor which interfaces with the fan 4-pin unit to reduce the speed but this will reduce the speed along the whole curve, and the fan may still spin up anyway in response to the higher temperature.

This tool will allow GS70 EC fan control support, and is written by the MSI User forum administrator. Svet will also answer any questions you have, to reaching your goal. Nice tool!
