I just installed an OEM i7 740qm in my GX660 (non-R) and also put in the 2gb stick of 1333 I've been sitting on for a couple months into the third slot. I boot up and it boots fine. I go into the system properties and notice it says I have 2gb or ram installed?! I checked the bios, and same thing. I took the third ram stick out thinking it would fix it, and still only 2gb of ram after reboot. What gives here? Anyone have any ideas?

What is your memory configuration? You can reseat all the memorys and/or try using the working ram in the third slot to rule out a defective slot.

You can also remove the battery and press/hold the power button for 30 seconds to clear the BIOS.

Well before work I was able to get the laptop to recognize my original 4gb by taking out one stick, booting, shutting down, putting the other stick back in and booting, then it finally saw all 4gb. I then tried the 3rd stick in and it again went back to only recognizing 2gb?? I had to repeat the above procedure to get it back to 4gb. Maybe it just doesn't like the ram? Possibly a bad ram slot or something? I'll try more things this weekend to see if I can get it going.
