    Hi all,

I have tried to run windows vista ultimate (sp1) 64 a bunch of times now, and the 32bit version works well. Everytime I install, I get to the setting up user accounts and passwords screen, then the computer reboots itself, and I am stuck in the black screen with green loading bar loop.

I am told this has to do with ACHI and the sata drivers, and have tried to run my drive on IDE compatitble and enhanced already.

I'm running Windows 7 now to get around the problem..

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

You can update the SATA controller manually from device manager under the “ IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers” devices
Download the x64 Intel SATA Controller Driver from here

Download “64-bit Floppy Configuration Utility” and unzip it and you will get the SATA controller driver AKA Matrix Storage

    x86(32 bit) from here

yes sure , you can load the driver at the beginning of vista installation.

    by the way
the latest chipset drivers for now is:
    9.1.1.1011

    use this method to install:
    open or run CMD
    type:
    infinst_autol.exe -OVERALL

    or

    setup.exe -OVERALL

Updates and overwrite ALL INF drivers on all available devices
even if third party drivers are currently installed (Like Microsoft)

i'm using this computer for research so i'm torn between wind7 and vista, (compatibility versus gaming haha)

there is no executable inside f6flpy6488.zip
download "64-bit Floppy Configuration Utility" only
    then unzip "f6flpy6488.zip"
    then you will get:
    Code:
    iaahci.cat
    iaAHCI.inf
    iastor.cat
    iaStor.inf
    IaStor.sys
    license.txt
    TXTSETUP.OEM
this is the "SATA Controller driver" , no need for other things ,

and you can put it on USB ;)

the "setup.exe -OVERALL" switch is for the chipset driver ONLY and you can download it from here

the f6flpy6488.zip file is the SATA controller driver and it does not have exe inside , you must install it manually , and you can download it from here

No problem spider :) you're welcome
The sata controller driver is for vista64 bit only .
anyway you can try to update it under windows 7 x64
if it is like this picture , then you don't need to update it

Is your copy of vista an SP1 copy?

I have seen this problem only on the original release vista dvd's without sp1. If not you can slipstream the service pack into your dvd.

yeah searches only revealed that this was occurring in non-sp1 vistas, but mine is apparently a sp1 slipstreamed.

is it possible to use the windows installation utility (booting off the dvd) to put these drivers on, and then not re-install windows and run as usual?

    thanks

    Hello!

First: Sorry for my bad english!

i have the same problem, like the threadstarter.

I have tried to run windows vista ultimate (sp1) 64 a bunch of times now, and the 32bit version works well. Everytime I install, I get to the setting up user accounts and passwords screen, then the computer reboots itself, and I am stuck in the black screen with green loading bar loop.

How can i fix that problem?!?!?

i have also the MSI GT627

Please help me, I installed Vista the 5th time now...

and i had included the chipset driver (all) in the vista ultimate x64 installation

    thx..
