Anyone painted over it?
-
Get the barebone. It's black and grey.
-
Thanks, I'm searching for it.
-
-
but dont barebones work out to be more expensive to build the same config?

click on the link and find our for yourself? Yes they do, barebones are for people who want to upgrade everything and not pay for stock parts
-
-
Thanks for the links Dead2. Wow, huge price difference, I'm getting used to the stripe.
-
MSI wants to have there own distinct look for there gaming series.
I'm not a big fan of it either but it's not deal breaker.
Barebones is the way to go, you don't have to get all the hardware configured when you order, half the fun is getting your own CPU,RAM,HDD/SSD etc. and do a self install that way you can save hundreds of dollars.
Just my 2 cents! -
Won't be a problem after they switch to the GE700 chassis.
-
Isn't the GE700 only available with a less powerful GPU?
-
Is the GE700 chassis the one for the GT660?
I dislike that chassis more than I dislike the one with the stripe ): -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
no the GE700 and GT660 do not look similar, just google image search and you should fine them
The stripe is a lot smaller in real life than it looks online imo -
Yeah the stripe isnt evven bad,
Infact i've the barebony model thingy,
I wouldnt mind the red stripeAnd the damned MSI logo.
-
If it was just for personal use no problem, have to use it for business also. Maybe take a Sharpie to the hinges just to tone it down a bit. I'm sure it looks more intense in the photos than it is in reality. In a perfect lappy world all black.
-
Hmm, this does make sense, you could probably find a good material (Stick backed plastic) to go over it mind you,
-
MSI can't stay with the same 16:10 chassis forever. -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
The oncoming shift to 16:9 for MSI saddens me, I'm going to use my GX640 for business (accounting) and I think it's just fine. No weird lighting or republic of gamers logo
-
I highly doubt it to be honest, if MSI have done their research right (Which they have) they'l keep the 640/740 (80 series probably) 16:10.
-
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
I hope you're right
-
Well think about it (Unless there are useless patents.)
Everyone is going 16:9, yet everyone wants 16:10, whos gna rake in more money, everyone else or MSI?
Screen ratio is actually has huge preference behind it. -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
We can hope, remember there was a time where everyone wanted 5:4
-
I hope that they go back to 16:10, 16:9 is nice for movies and such on desktop displays.
A general q about laptop displays:
Are they all made the same, ie can i buy any 15.4" 1920x1200 display and replace my GX640's 1680x1050?
Why does MSI make these awesome notebooks with that crappy stripe?
