I'm looking at a couple laptops here from MSI. I'm looking for a light laptop with good specs, but I heard about the slim MSI laptops having crazy loud fan noise, as well as GPU/CPU getting really hot. Anyone here know which model doesn't suffer from these problems?

Can't speak for the Apache but the new GS60 and GS70 with 970m doesn't have overheating issues. You can go to their their threads and read more about them, in which I highly suggest you do.

Seems like everyone who talk about the GS60/70 talk about it's loud fans and how hot it gets.. even on idle.

I have the GS70 and idle and full spinning fan doesn't bother me at all when I wasn't wearing my headset. Plus, it didn't bother my GF either at full fan throttle and she was a few feet away from the desk the laptop is on. It's all about tolerance while some can handle it and others can't.

Heck I had the Gigabyte P35x v3 for a week and the fan was even louder at max compared to the GS70 and that didn't bother me either.

So basically YMMV based on your tolerance level.
