I am deciding between a Sager 8270 and an MSI GT70 and one issue I have is where to buy the MSI. The Sager I would buy from reflex notebook but they don't offer the MSI. The issue with being in canada is there are no MSI resellers that offer great customization. From Gentech I would be getting a good laptop, would it be good to get it there or would it come out to more than the sager from within canada( CA$1,780.48).

This is the laptop I would be getting:

    MSI GT70 2OC-065US
    $1650.99 (US)
    17.3" 1920x1080 Full HD LED (Matte-type) Anti-Glare
    nVidia GeForce GTX 770M 3GB GDDR5 DX11 + Intel HD4600
    4th Gen Intel Haswell Core i7-4700MQ, 2.4~3.4GHz, 22nm, 6MB, 47W
IC Diamond 24 Carat Thermal Compound on both CPU/GPU - Free
    Primary Hard Drive:
120GB Crucial M500 Solid State Drive SATA III 6Gb/s
    Secondary Hard Drive:
    750GB 5400rpm 2.5-inch 9.5mm 8MB SATA II 3Gb/s
    8GB DDR3 1600/PC3 12800 Dual-Channel (4G X 2)
    Killer Wireless-N 1202 2.4Ghz/5.0Ghz Dual-Band 300 Mbps + Bluetooth 4.0
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit Full Version DVD

The Sager would have basically the same specs, just a little different.

If Gentechpc will deliver to Canada, they get a lot of positive feedback on this forum, and the owner is very active here. I ordered from them and they shipped the laptop in about two days. Assuming it arrives in one piece and the custom parts were included, I'd say they have done their job very well. I also hear good things about Xoticpc.

Also, is there a particular reason you want a 32 bit operating system? Short of having to support some legacy hardware or software, I would think you would be much better off with a 64bit OS.

Well actually some of the programs I run are still 32 bit only, I might end up just getting 64 bit though actually, and run a VM or partition on my second hard drive.

I'd strongly suggest going that route if you can. Hamstringing a high end machine like this with a 32bit operating system just seems like kind of a waste. I feel your pain though. In my line of work many of our hardware and software vendors are extremely slow to update to new operating systems and 32 to 64 bit. We were only able to upgrade to Windows 7 this past winter. Also, one of our main pieces of equipment still requires XP, 32 bit.

You can try to contact most Build to order resellers in US, most of them ship to Canada.
