Sure its an older laptop , but whats the best processor youve heard of in one of these?
My laptop is the quad core model, comes factory with q9000.

Has anyone ever ran a qx9300 in one, having trouble finding info on these.

    Thanks

P9700 is the highest you can use, or 28W TDP.
Q9000 has exceeded this TDP rating because it's a 45W processor.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply.
So you suggest I take out the factory quad core q9000 and replace it with the dual core t9700? I would of thought the quad core is better?
This is the GT627 Quad core edition by the way

I see, your GT627 is the special edition with higher TDP support therefore Q9000 was bundled.
The rest of 1651 line did not have this special support.
So Q9100 is actually the best out there for quad lines (2.26GHz), but if you want to stick with higher clock speeds, then P9700 is the best under dual-core lines (2.8GHz).

Thanks Kevin, will keep that in mind.
Do you or do you know of anyone with a link for the barebones gt627 bios and ec firmware?

    Just an update for everyone.
Installed a T9600 CORE2DUO 2.8 ghz, managed to overclock it to 3.8ghz , 3.7ghz stable. Pretty sick speeds for a non unlocked cpu eh?
Also managed to run less than factory voltage, but cant remember the actual voltage.

Now back to running the Q9000 2.0ghzquad, managed to get it up to around 2.7ghz , but around 2.4ghz seems most stable.

After that I thought I better go to bed and chill out before I blow the laptop up ;)
