    Hi,

I would like to hear your opinion guys. It is brand new. Btw, do all msi laptops come with this terrible ASInt memory modules? I cannot believe I am doing this after 5 days

Here is what happened to my brand new MSi gt660 (this popped up after ~8 mins of testing):

I would like to add a few details. I bought it on newegg. I spoke to them the very first day when I got it because the laptop was not sealed in the box and I could clearly see marks on it. They totally ignored me and advised me to "try it out". I will call them again tomorrow and see what happens...

Was it listed as open box? I know they havent had that model in stock for a couple of weeks now, other than a open box.

Thanks moral hazard for the advice! that would be the best option, no doubt about it. However, my wife really needs it and I am having some thoughts: maybe I should just buy new memory and replace it myself? I don't know. I really didn't expect this.

Lurch2824, no mate, it was listed as brand new (and still is).

As an aside note, newegg cs is not as it used to be. I bought my first item from them in may 2001 and they were different company altogether...

Did you test each stick individually? It might just be one bad stick (hopefully the 2gb stick instead of the more expensive 4gb stick).

No, I didn't. How do I do that? Should I remove 2 and test 1 at the time? Afaik, there are 3 modules (2gb each)...

Ok, I didn't think there were 3 slots. I would remove 2 and test 1 if you can without voiding the warranty.
