So, there's a rubber block in the bag with the harddrive accessories.

What is it for? I didn't see it listed in the manual.

You wedge it behind the hard drive to keep it in place.

that's what I thought. Not sure it's really needed though, given that it's held in place by the case door...but oh well. Not like it weighs much or I have any other use for it...maybe it's just optional

I believe it's meant to stop vibrations that the hard drive produces.

Well, that explains that. I tried pulling the RAM out of my T61p since it was only running at PC2-5300 instead of 6400. System wasn't stable at all. Put the RAM I just bought back in the MSI, it works fine. Tested in the Thinkpad, where it had worked perfectly since it was "born"...3072 errors so far.

So, my MSI killed my 1 year old RAM. Crap.

    NecessaryEvil, please explain...
... with wich RAM, and wich system wasn't stable? As I understand you are saying that wile your 4Gb RAM of T61 was running on your T61 system was not stable, or I'm wrong? Hm... but after you say that with the same RAM was stable... I'm confused....

Ram had no problems running in my T61p from April until today. Swapped it out with the new Crucial PC2-5300 I bought, and the MSI kept crashing w/ the RAM I had in the T61p.

I put the OCZ PC2-6400 back in the T61p, and ran tests, and saw that they sticks had gone bad...probably due to something I did, although I've not had ESD issues before, and took the necessary precautions.

    Bad luck, I guess

This is really strange. As I remember they solved the problem with ESD many years ago (every chip now has a discharge diode), so I don't think this is the reason. I was going to suggest you to clean the pads of the bad RAM. You can do that with normal pencil rubber. Rub the pads untill you'll see how the gold becoms shiny. If this doesn't help - then it's BAD luck :(
P.S. I'm suggesting thing this because I had similar problem with desktop memory.

OCZ's already given me an RMA, I'll just send it back.

On a lighter side, my MSI's currently in the process of backing up right now. I just wish the keyboard wasn't so mushy, it feels like it could use some support on the left side.
