Wireless performance tests don't really mean a whole lot since they depend on the computer, Internet connection, router, and Wi-Fi congestion.

The Killer 1535's Wi-Fi speeds were are not quite as fast as an Intel 8260 I was using a while ago, though the difference was probably less than 5 percent. However, I prefer it because Qualcomm's Bluetooth controller plays more nicely than Intel's with any peripheral I have connected to it. Also, Killer has dramatically improved its software, so I would always recommend it. Don't know about the new 1550 yet.

It should be faster than almost every Intel on the 5 GHz band! We have dual amplifiers built in, which should boost the signal strength, and therefore the overall speeds, significantly. Here are some direct comparisons between Killer Wireless and machines equipped with the Intel 8260, 7265, and 7260. The Intel 9000 series is faster, but the 1550 should trounce it, though we haven't seen any direct comparisons yet. If you have a Killer 1535 that is running slower than an Intel 7 or 8 series adapter in the exact same situation, I encourage you to reach out to us at [email protected] so that we can help troubleshoot and figure out what's going on!

This was a long time ago when your control center wasn't quite up to scratch. Since then, I've changed modems/routers, and your software has improved by an order of magnitude. There is no question now that the 1535 is faster than the Intel 8260 I tried before and much more so than the 7265 that's in the Yoga 2 Pro in my signature.

I can't say I'm entirely happy about you partnering with Intel on the 1550, especially if it uses their brand of Bluetooth controller, rather than Qualcomm.

Upon reading it again, the post you're quoting is a bit misleading, so I have edited it.

Nothing even comes close to the range of the AC1535, I've tried the Intel 8265 and Intel 9260 and the range was horrible giving me a max connection speed of 123mbps from my Nighthawk X10 router that's just 10 feet away but with 2 doors between us. The Killer AC 1535 was able to penetrate those doors like a Titan and give me full speed with 0 disconnections all year round connected @ 866mbps.

    Killer Networking FTW

What surprises me is, Killer does not sell customers their products directly but it is a pleasant surprise that @Killer_Networking frequents the forums looking for any post or problem regarding their problems. This kind of customer service is unheard of at this day and age. Someone who really loves his job and stands by his company's products!

You will never see an Intel rep on ANY forum giving a rat's *** about their products or how bad their range is

I came to conclusion if anyone posted issues related to Intel products that, Intel blame motherboard vendors and in turn the vendors blame Intel. IMO, both of them must be wiped off for diverting the questions raised to them!

Thanks for the heads up. In your signature I noticed you have "Intel Wireless-AC 9260"
Was this plugged in when you wrote your comment or your laptop came with that wifi card originally?
    Which one you use atm?
Im about to order a wifi card pretty soon :)
    Thanks

Do your research before Ordering as many laptop WifiCards are "Whitelisted" by the laptop Maker in the Bios and will only accept certain Cards/Models even though you can plug them in...not sure if MSI do this or not ? but I have tried upgrading friends Laptops (lenovo, gateway) for them and it wouldn't work , this turned out to be the Reason.
MSI Like Acer does provide Drivers for Both for each model on their Website so either should work, though Acer would not sellme the Intel Card when I 1st had issues last year myself.

My new GP73 8RD has the Intel 9260, so far no issues but I specially wanted it as some Routers ( for example my Archer C7) have Issues with Qualcomm's QCA1674x Chip series in some laptops. TP link to their Credit say their FW 18 versions and on have fixed this if you use the right Atheros Driver ( eg 12.0.0.448 )

Thank you very much for your fast response.
I have AW R3 15 and I will probably stick with my Killer1535 then :)

Anybody know if it's the Intel 9260 or a different qualcomm bluetooth chipset underlying the Killer 1550. Sure, I've goe bluetooth working in windows 7, but it's still not perfect.

Intel 9260 and Killer 1550 are the exact same card. I have them both. They even appear under device manager with the same model no. 9260 but one says Intel and one Says Killer, that's the only difference, a rebadge. Even the drivers are exactly the same.

Thanks, I'll go grab some working drivers for it. Strange that the hardware ID shows up wrong.

So what's better 9260 ($20) or 1550 ($30)? Post about the range is a concern. Range would be one of my main priorities.

For max range Killer 1535 is best choice than Intel based 9260 and Killer 1550.
