I have been using my GX660R for 5 years now and I'd like to replace it. What I love about it is that it has great and loud speakers.

I was wondering if anyone here (preferably who has experience with GX660R) could recommend anything similar in terms of sound or perhaps even better?

As for the manufacturer, it doesn't matter. Although I really have soft spot for MSI.

    Any suggestions?

In the range currently the GT72 and GT80 both have similar high caliber speakers.

GT72 does look interesting. I was hoping for something slimmer than though.

I can tell you from a person who used to own a GX660/R and then a GT60 2OD laptop, the GX660 had superior speakers even though they were supposed to be mostly the same with DynAudio. The GX660 just had much more punch and filled the room better. Others have also attested to this. Not that the GT60 had bad speakers by any measure, but the GX660 was about as close to a 10 in laptop speakers I've ever heard.

I have never heard the GT72 or GT80 speakers so I cannot comment on those.

I was very impressed with the sound from the moment I got my the laptop. Very loud and clear detailed. One minor drawback was that sometimes when playing music at higher volumes a distortion would occur. I wonder how much better is GT72 though.

Let me rephrase my question, guys. Does MSI (the high end range) has the best laptop speakers in the biz? If not, what are considered equal in terms of that.

So GT72 speakers are awesome, not sure if there is a much better system out there. But just for interest, why you don´t put an (little better) Bluetooth Speaker (beginning with www.amazon.com/dp/B00F4EONWS ) on the USB port (or via headphonejack or via Bluetooth) as they have pretty much more "power" than any integrated notebook speakers in general and are pretty small.

Alienware and MSI are at the top
Yes, MSI holds the throne. Only company that's close is Alienware.

If you want a single unit that needs as few extras except a mouse that can still be taken around it's the GT72, Kevin is right about the speakers.

I think only the GT80 matched the loudness of the GX660R. Maybe GT72 too. That laptop was something special. GT60 was great in quality but not on the same level of loudness.

Dyanaudio was the best in the audio area and really caused other brands to follow suit.

Out of all of my laptops they have the best speakers, the only comparable ones I would say would be the m18xr2 but only when it was using the soundblaster software processing.

Which is easier to do with an 18 inch machine.
