    Hello everybody!

I have been doing some research on the internet, but i couldn´t solve my doubts. I have a MSI GX623-041ES with a glossy 1280x800 display and i would be sure if i can upgrade it with a WUXGA 1920x1200 display. Or there is a BIOS limitation or something.

If that it possible what i should buy because i don´t know if i need anything else than the screen as an inverter.

For example, in this page it says:

"Note: Make sure new screen has same size, resolution, backlight as your old one!"

    https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/MSI/GX623/

    Thank you very much!

The only way is to disassemble the display and check if the cable has all of the wires inside. This model was shipped with higher res displays, so the MoBo is OK. Check the cable, if everything is there, you can upgrade to whatever you want. Also the displays you should consider are:

    LP154WU1-TLA2 - glossy
    LP154WU1-TLC1 - matte
LP154WU2-TLA2 - 72% color gamut, 2CCFL, glossy - it would probably run with single lamp only, but the colors are going to be much better than the rest.

Ask for the exact part number prior buying.

    Thank you for your answer.

Which wires do you mean? the CCFL cable with two connectors and the 30 pin socket? I can dissamble the screen and post a picture of it because i am i little bit lost...

I am considering to buy the LP154WU1-TLC1 as is matte and i dont like glossy, because besides the LP154WU2-TLA2 is much better i am not sure if its going to work.

The 30 pin one that connects the MoBo and the display.

I'm running 2CCFL display on single lamp only and it's just fine. So far I've tested LTN154XB (1280x800 2CCFL) and LTN154BT01 (1440x900 2CCFL). Probably some contrast and brightness are lost, but the color difference is mind blowing.

That looks good for all of the pins being connected.

The one absent pin is normal. :) You may be able to fine the rating on the lamp in a specs page; then you can compare to see if the inverter will power the backlight. Other than that, it looks like you'll be fine.

^^ What they said, pic your display, ask prior buying and smile :) There are really s-h-i-t-t-y panels/sellers-as-well out there, that's why I'm stressing the "ask prior buying" again and again :)

I now its been a while since i wrote this post, I just want to thank you all for your help. I finally got a genuine brand new LP154WU2-TLA2 and it is perfectly working under 1CCFL. The colors, the resolution... o god... and I also installed a 240gb seagate 600 SSD.

I dont need any other Laptop until those like the ideapad yoga will improve in terms of retina screens and so.
