Since last 3 days, MSI has dropped support for models they released about a year or less ago. For example, GT72 2QE with 980M and HASWELL is NO longer supported on their support site list. MSI has not only failed to deliver proper windows 10 drivers and software support for HASWELL GT72 models as promised after 3 months, they decided owners for those models can be written off entirely. at first i thought it is just a glitch or they are just updating their support site, but after 3 days, it's either their web management team is incompetent or they decided HASWELL owners are no longer important. This reflects badly on hardware support and longevity of the laptops MSI sell. Owners paying several thousand dollars get written off in a year or less is fast becoming their support policy.

Consider this situation, if im using windows 8.1 which comes with the laptop, and i need newer version of utilities software or driver other than the one that came with factory, where am i going to download it?

Is MSI telling HASWELL owners that we now have to download drivers for BROADWELL or SKYLAKE MODELS? how about BIOS/FIRMWARE update? If a HASWELL owner did not get the chance to update their BIOS/FIRMWARE before and decided to update it now, where can he/she find the proper software?

Other manufacturers might stop supporting their flagship machine after two years, BUT, and this is the critical BUT, they at least kept the model listed under support and download so whenever a user requires the latest driver or software, they can still get it. what MSI has done is COMPLETELY REMOVE ANY HASWELL EXISTENCE from their support and downloads page! is this acceptable?

MSI, if you are looking at this page, it's best for you to reflect on your company policies. Bring back support for HASWELL owners and GIVE US proper windows 10 driver and software support as promised! potential buyers can take your money elsewhere. there are many other gaming laptops to choose from. you have been warned

Don't panic, there are still haswell based notebooks listed in other series. They do like to restructure the site every so often but if you are in a real bind for drivers contact your reseller and they should be able to help out :)

Yes, I need the EC firmware for a GT60 20D. I went looking for it last night. (for some reason my fan at startup is stuck at 30%).

MSI is a bunch of liars and so as the mods on this forum. I have a bricked BIOS since Windows 10 launch and MSI keeps giving me the run around. They won't put out any more updates for a year old laptop. That sucks and its pathetic.

Check your Device Manager and take note of the drivers there in each section and then update them by finding the names here http://www.necacom.net/ It helps for now with Intel and Realtek drivers but for BIOS, EC firmware, SCM, and Steel Series Keyboard you can forget it. MSI has now proven to be a lazy as company!

For BIOS and EC firmware, you can ask MSI if you have any specific need to update them, such a particular issue. You should ask them directly so they can attend. For the rest of the drivers, they tend to have the current best working driver and then you are on your own. This is for all manufacturers though.

I agree that the lack of support for windows 10 was a bad move, specially since it got mixed with two intel CPU Generations launched. But at the end of the day, if you need the latest software update, you should look for the specific device and see what's up.

Luckily, my titan works well in windows 10 and I did not need anything, but if you do have an issue, be sure to contact msi with the issue you currently have, so they can work on it.

I may be missing something, but I just went on the official msi website and checked the downloads for 5th gen Broadwell GT72 pro G notebooks. I found quite a few bios, firmware, and driver downloads available for win 10....
    Nvm lol

If this were true then that would be a very bad move by MSI. I doubt its really true though. My bigger concern for the owners of those very expensive GT72 and GT80 laptops would be the GPU upgrade path that MSI promised/guaranteed. I fairly certain I remember seeing them guaranteeing at least 1 GPU generation upgrade. If they don't release a generational GPU upgrade on the MXM platform with heat sink and bios/vbios support they would be blatantly lying to their customers. Pulling an ol bait and switch. As has been proven time and time again for gaming, in the last few years the CPU is hardly the limiting factor.

Those drivers should be good too, like I say msi like to re-organise and you will likely find it popping up again at some point.

I wouldn't necessarily panic over this. My old Ivy GT60 isn't on MSI's website anymore and at first look, looks like MSI dropped support for it long ago. But if you do a Google search with your specific model, you can find the legacy support page that still has all the driver downloads for it. I did that just yesterday with the SCM driver when I noticed a couple buttons weren't working right.

    Here's what I get when I do a Google Search for "MSI GT60 0ND".

The first hit that comes up is: http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/GT60-0ND

Click on service and I get http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GT60-0ND.html#down-bios and that has all the tabs for all available downloads. It just dumps you off first on the bios download page.

Unfortunately, MSI doesn't make it easy from their site. I have to do that Google search every time I've needed a download. :( The upside is the downloads are still there.

Thanks for the clear steps on how to google for legacy MSI drivers :)

I was hoping MSI would have a "Legacy" section, like most vendors... at least they keep them on the site, if only orphaned without a link on their own site.

Yeah, definitely not the most user friendly way of finding them, but at least they're still there.

I haven't checked this way, but they may be accessible thru their user portal too. I haven't logged in since I sent my laptop in earlier this year, so I don't know if that's an option.

so....what else is new? *lol* manufacturers usually drop support once the next gen is out, no news there. doesnt mean ure SOL though, just makes it a bit more of a hassle to go hunting for compatible drivers, thats all :)

i can recommend www.station-drivers.com btw, its in french but google translate helps and they cover pretty much all kinda hardware, even exotic stuff ;)

I get the vast majority of my drivers from the component vendors themselves (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, etc). There aren't very many MSI specific drivers I need at this point - mostly the lower level SCM stuff and the like.

I did, every single post indeed.

Users saying there are other ways to find drivers from other laptops' download page, a guy saying he found some drivers through a Google search.

Doesn't change the fact that if a company drops support for a 1 year old laptop which isn't old by any means I would trust buying something as expensive as a gaming laptop from them.

Personally, I know my way around these things, if the manufacturer has dropped support, I would simply run DriversCloud which is one of the only driver update tools I found that has no malware in it and actually works, it performs a scan on the system then finds all the relevant driver updates or even missing drivers and provides links to download directly from the manufacturer; but that doesn't change the fact that it is pretty sad for a company like MSI to drop support for a not so old laptop especially the much needed drivers.

I know some drivers are still hard to find, like you know fingerprint scanner drivers or FN Key utility and such

In fact, the MSI GT80 was the only laptop I would consider other than the CLEVO P870DM-G and thank God I chose the Clevo, it was a very tough decision but I went for the Clevo only due to the fact that they have the Skylake 6700K which I wanted.

Just to clarify things, MSI GT72 2QE HASWELL model support is now back. after almost two weeks of complains and posting in forum both here and MSI forum, they quietly decided to bring it back. whether or not it was a mistake is up for debate but clearly they removed the support intentionally, so it wouldnt call it a fix. even till today, you still cant find that model directly from their main support site, you have to do a search on the support and download section to get it to show. whichever the reason was (intentional or glitch), it's still a mistake on MSI's part.

On the side note, windows 10 support for HASWELL model is now finally available. came a day or two after they reactivate the support page. so it's good news for haswell owners.

MSI does listen to its customers, even if it's costing them more resources to add Win10 support on an aging platform. This move makes a lot of customers happy for sure. :)

Haswell ended up to be the most costly platform for MSI, since they had to provide support on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. Also, MSI moved in with Broadwell when it was released, and then Skylake. Hmmm, more resources?
