Strangely enough, whenever I open any graphic intensive apps, the whole laptop BSOD.

Be in games, or even programs.
In games, Warcraft III hangs after a few seconds.

I thought it was the driver, because,I used to one that came original with
the craptop, but it still happened.
Then I downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers, but then it would say that it fails to detect any compatible hardware.

Sending for warranty wont work, cuz it has been more than a year since I had this laptop.

And now, the audio jack is a dud. Had to use an external USB soundcard.

Not to mention when running monitoring apps like Everest will make svchost.exe to crazy. I can't open my Network Connections etc. I have reformatted the laptop before, but it does not seem to help. Virus? I think not, as I have an original copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.

    And my, it is hot.

But, the funny thing is, after plugging in the USB sound card, Warcraft III does not lag that bad, and some games are quite playable.

    Hmm very odd,

"And my, it is hot" is the main clue here.

Give us some of your temperatures :)
It may just need a clean to be honest.

    Hmm.

CPU temps are around 80++. Degrees. And the HDD is also kinda hot. I understand that since the HDD spins, heat emits, but why does the other side of the touchpad gets hot? WiFi? unlikely, I've switched it off. And I'm using a fix line.

btw, I am using a Cooler Master Notepal V1 as a coolerpad. It helps radiate the heat away from the laptop. I think.

CPU temps are hot, Northbridge may be hot also, i would suggest getting some compressed air, opening it up, promting something agianst the fan to stop it from spinning and blast it with compressed air.

If the HDD is hotter then 60C it is malfunctioning, i think the soutbridge is often under the palm rest/by mouse pad on these machines but im not sure.

I would also suggest prehaps cleaning up and optimising your system, as well as a virus scan?

I do need to clean the fan soon. But the last time I checked (last week), it was relatively dust free.

If the HDD is malfunctioning, how come it can function till now?

Well its idling or just doing basic tasks, so the temps are cool, but toshiba in my experience shouldnt malfunction, its probably your other hardware. Also have you replaced the thermal paste? Maybe whoever it was used a paste/pad that needs replacing after so long.

And although late, welcome to notebook review hehe.

I haven't removed the CPU before. Maybe I should. lol. I did something crazy last time.

It involved lifting the notebook up and backplate underneath the laptop removed. I managed to reduce the temperatures by 10 degrees ! That was with a cooling pad.

    And thanks for the welcome.
