Hi, I just set up my Aorus Gaming Box GTX 1080 with my GS65 and everything is running great with it. I like the fact I can connect all of my peripherals to this unit like a hub and only have my power cable and TB3 cable connected. Is there any other benefit in utilizing an eGPU with this system while at home? For instance, does it help in reducing wear and tear on my system and does it help keep the gs65 cooler since I'm not relying on the internal GPU?

However!
Benchmarks, pretty please :3
I want to know how the bottleneck is. -
Thanks! Is there a free benchmarking tool that you would recommend? I can benchmark Doom which I was playing at 2560x1440 and getting between 135-145 FPS.

I'll download some of those and give them a go. Will report back.

Here's the first benchmark using the free 3DMark 11 demo. It restricted the resolution to 720p.

Here's 3DMark Time Spy

Here's the Heaven Benchmark

So are those benchmarks any good with my GTX 1080 eGPU connected?

I'm not sure if they are, but I would think that it's running off the 1080 since my display port cable is connected directly through the eGPU. Plus my laptop is very cool compared to the eGPU. I'm running the Witcher 3 right now through the eGPU and getting between 85-95 FPS at 1080p and High settings.

do the same benchmarks with the 1070 and check your points if you need to be sure but i would say the benchmark points are an 1080 from my point of view.

When I checked the Nvidia control Center, it was only showing the 1080 card. Maybe Optimus is causing issues with some of the benchmarking software?

i don't think so. when you connect the eGPU the internal will be deactivated in bios as far as i know.

I was hoping you can help me with this new situation I noticed when trying to shutdown my system with the Aorus Gaming Box still connected. I noticed that every time I shut down my system like normal, it would just boot back up like I was doing a restart. It did this every time. So the next time it shut down, I quickly pulled out the TB3 cable from the notebook, even though it rebooted. This time I took the power connector out and tried shutting down the laptop without anything connected. It did that same thing again and rebooted instead of shutting down. I noticed that my Nvidia control panel was gone after I disconnected the eGPU, so I had to reinstall all the Nvidia drivers again after GeForce Experience updated and stated I need to install the latest driver (which was previously installed).
So what gives? Is there an issue with going back and forth between a GTX 1080 eGPU and the laptop? Shouldn't it work like normal when shutting down and unplugging the eGPU to use the 1070 card instead? I want to test it again, but I don't want to mess up my system. I only have 5 more days before my exchange policy is up....but I do want to keep this machine. -
maybe the fast statup option is the issue. i have deactivate it by standard on my GT75VR

Thanks, I'll try that out.
