I have the GT70 780m based notebook. GF has the GS70 super thin thingy.

I know her AC adapter wont work on mine, but if she wants to use mine to charge hers will it work? The plug looks like it will fit but I just want to make sure it wont over volt it and blow something out.

    Thanks!

well, try to see if the chargers are the same in terms of voltage and ampers :)
if yes it should work, else it will most likely refuse to charge

Ok so even though mine is a higher wattage as long as the volts and amps are the same it should be ok?

Demand is established by the notebook. If the plugs and voltages work, the amperage will vary to feed only what it is needed. Just like I used an Asus 150w PSU on my older MSI GX660R when my 120w PSU died.

Thanks for all the great info then.

So to be clear, my AC adapter from my GT70 780m (barebones dragon 2) WONT damage the GS70 then right? It should just charge as normal.

    Yes, it is fine.
But if you use AC adapter from GS70 on GT70 then it's insufficient.

to explain it more detailed, the PSU on the GT70 is capable of delivering 180W, but the GT70 doesn't draw 180W all the time i.e. when the GPU is not in use

this means the GT70 asks for lower than what the PSU is able to supply and so it means the PSU supplies not the maximum amount of power all the time but instead only supply the required power to power the components in use ranging from 0W to 50, to 90, to 120, to 150 and up to 180W

thus the GS70 requiring 120 ~ 150W is within the supply range of the GT70 as long as the voltage in volts is correct (and is fixed), current is the power determining variable in amps which is true, you will not damage the GS70 since it is asking the PSU to supply lower than 180W (120 in this case), going for a lower wattage power supply, however, leaves the laptop underpowered so is instead not adviced to
