    Hi, i doing an upgrade for my friend on his msi gt780dxr to 7970m. I would like to ask a few questions

    Will the gtx570m heatsink fit with the 7970m? i done the mods on the heatsink with 680m it fits easily.

    Can i use a msi gx60 7970m bios or clevo or dell and how do i disable enduro? Do it disable it in the system bios or just flash to another 7970m card without enduro.

    Hope some experts can guide me on this.

    Thank You.

    No, the nVidia heatsink won't fit. You can get 7970m MSI heatsinks in the sales section of the forum. Pa1low sells modded 5870 versions, and some other guy (don't remember now), sells stock 7970m ones.
    You should be able to use any vbios.
    You'd disable Enduro by flashing a non-enduro vBios. I don't think you can disable it in bios unless you have the option to disable integrated graphics. However, I'm pretty sure the most recent versions of the beta driver have the Enduro feature working much better than in months past.

    Hi, thanks for the reply. Is it possible to mount the gx60 heatsink instead of using the 5870m heatsink because i don't really have any grinding tools for it. Can the gx60 heatsink fit onto the gt780dxr?

    @trigger25sg:

    Just wondering, where you able to successfully upgrade the Graphics card to the Radeon 7970M?

    I've called MSI about this and they claimed it was not possible, although I'm sure that they have policies for that kind of stuff. Assuming they rather sell a new laptop than allowing us to upgrade ours.

    MSI is never going to put their name to a mod like this.

    I often think the GTX570M and GTX580M are flawed chips and/or NVIDIA drivers really suck..

    On Windows 7 x64 every driver version installation after 314.22 results in kernel crashes.

    On Windows 8.1 every driver version results in a crash at least once a day on my GT780DX with a GTX570M..

    A 7970M might be a good choice for a GPU swap.

    Naturally,your mileage may vary.
