Hi guys i need some help or advice.
I just bought a msi gt60 gtx60m upgrade kit from eurocom at quite a good price.
MSI GT60 VGA Upgrade Kit NVIDIA GTX 680M 4GB DDR5 MXM 3 0B | eBay
While waiting for it to arrive, i assume this card is from eurocom. Do i need to flash the card to msi vbios or just leave it plain stock and is there any features i missing out if i install this card from eurocom (etc nvidia auto clock boost)
Thank you.

I'm assuming you have a GT60?
-
Hi, sorry to include which machine i using.
I have the GT60 0nc with the gtx670m gpu and i cant seem to find any feedbacks so i posted it here. I will be using my 670m heatsink for the 680m. -
According to you link you posted it doesn't look like the vbios needs to be modified. Just make sure your bios is up to date to the latest version, install the card, and update drives from the link in the eBay posting.
-
It is better to use oryginal HS for 680m not from 670m. They are different.
-
Yeah I can't imagine the heat sinks would be the same. I would look into picking up a 680M one, better safe than sorry.

Hi guys, thanks for the advice.
The problem is i reside in singapore and Msi wont sell me anything there unless its only for warranty purpose and its very hard to even find 1 at ebay. Any other websites you guys think will sell the heatsink?
Thank you -
You can use the same heatsink you used on the GTX 670M on the GTX 680M. No problem.
What you need is thermal pads to make shure the heatsink have perfectly connection with the VRAM and the power supply on the MXM card. You probably need to stack them on top of each other to make it perfect. The GPU die itself fits perfectly without any need for pads.
Here you have a small guide where one forum member did this operation on his GT70 with his GTX 570M (670M) heatsink.

Cool thanks, i will give it a shot.
-
If you want oryginal gf 680m heatsink you can buy from me
I have all msi heat sinks avaiable. If you want to modify your 570m with dremel tool it is your decision but remember it is better to use thin thermalpads vs fat thermalpads in modiffied heatsink from 570m.
-
I would recommend buying heatsink from majster OP. Atleast then you know that it fits perfectly

I was wondering if the seller sent you an actual MSI 680m, or did you get a Clevo one w/ MSI vbios flashed on it?
-
Hi, I am not sure too i email eurocom if i need to flash the vbios to msi, he said no flashing is needed just install the card n use their modded drivers. I guess most likely its a clevo card with the msi bios but its kinda weird they state the card is only for use no msi gt60 not even the gt70 so maybe it could be from msi (just a thought). Anyway the card will arive on wed so i keep you guys posted on the outcome.

ok latest update.
I just finish installing the gtx680m onto my gt60. But how do i get to install the drivers? i tried downloading the inf from laptop2go and paste into Display.Driver folder. No luck yet.
This is my screenshot, hope you guys can help me out.

Download the drivers from Nvidia's main site. I still am baffled why everyone decides to go to those third party sites... >.<
-
Yup i downloaded the drivers from nvidia site, doesn't work. The cd drivers from eurocom doesn't work too. The inf from laptop2go for clevo cards are both missing. I managed to install 306.97 without errors but next bootup my gpu is missing, had to uninstall it then it shows up again as Mircosoft basic adapter again. Headache
Anyone got a solution or drivers or inf to share? I am running on windows 8 pro, could it be an issue with that too? -
Just update mainboard BIOS to 30M.

- Added support for Nvidia GTX680M. -
Thanks everyone for the advice i finally got it to work. I disable the stupid windows 8 test signing crap in command prompt did the trick.
Thank you so much guys. -

Hi, yup everything is fine now but i have a weird problem relating to the driver. I can live with it though. Those modded infs or drivers can install (i even manually modded 1 myself just to make sure it works)but the next reboot,
after loading wondows 8 icon, the screen would just black out n flicker and the optimus light on the power button on the laptop would go white and orange light in a loop. Only installing dox drivers from laptop2go works and when i done my own upgrading to a better version of the driver the optimus problem would flicker again.
Only solution i figured out is to install dox driver first, if you wanna upgrade to the latest driver, just do an express installation instead of custom installlation and do not tick clean installation then it would work. I feedback this to eurocom because none of their drivers on the site worked and see if any solution can be provided in future. -
1 more thing i just noticed, My bios GT60 0nc has been changed to GT60 0ne after installing the gtx680m. I didnt even flash any bios or updates.

Did you find out if it is a clevo card with msi bios, or a legitimate msi card?
-
I think its a clevo card with a gtx680m msi barbone vbios. No matter how i modded the drivers it wont work until i used dox drivers and modded my own drivers to use latest nvidia driver then it works. Btw i flash the card to original gt60 0ne msi card vbios, everything is working fine including turbo boost but you get throttle if you oc too high. I dun need any modded drivers too if i flash to msi gt60 0ne gtx680m vbios. Right now i using the vbios from eurocom which is msi barebone gtx680m i think. Its great no throttling at all except that turbo boost is not working and you need a modded driver.
Hope it helps for anyone looking to upgrade their msi gt60. -
Original msi gt60 0ne gtx680m bios = core clock 750 memory 1800 i
with turbo boost = core clock 770+ i get throttling if i hit 800+ core clocks strange though if u max + 135 in afterburner it will run at 900+ core clocks but will throttle anyway.
no need modded drivers, turbo boost working as intended no issue on hdmi or anything too.
Eurocom bios = core clocks 719 memory 1800 can oc to 850 and 2300 memory without throttling.
need modded drivers and turbo boost not working. Got issue installing sound drivers but you can install in in safe mode. No issue on audio or hdmi. pretty awesome too -

Well that got me a bit worried about warranty wise issue. On my receipt it was shown as MSI GT60 0NC but the machine now is GT60 ONE. If i were to send for warranty is it still applicable? I already sold off my old gtx670m

Anyway i need make more malaysian friends haha as i might buy alienware 3d screen in malaysia. Cost of alienware parts in singapore is so freaking expensive like gtx680m is about 1.9k sgd
which is near 4k RM.
No choice have to resort buying from ebay on that card. -

at least singapore is still better than malaysia, having a raw 680M to be sold. well anyway, i am not malaysian, i am indonesian just happen to study in malaysia and i don't know malaysia very well
alienware parts are much cheaper in malaysia, compared to singapore, but still more expensive than in the US. the stupid thing is, regardless the price difference, those alienwares are made in malaysia and still they tax the insider
i can hook you up with some friends in low yat -
The price difference is huge.
Price in sgd, The gtx 680m is crazy. With that pricing i can buy 2 gtx680m from eurocom and i still have 100 bucks left to buy smokes for 10 days.
Item: AMD Raedeon HD 7970M(747M2)
Price: SGD780
Item: Nvidia GTX680M (CPCXD)
Price: SGD1900.00
price in malaysia, i think they quoted wrongly on the 7970m its too good to true.
