Hello guys! I have a wonderful MSI GT780, i've already sent it back to the manufacturer because of the video card stopped working, when I got it back I got a new video card, the same model of course (NVIDIA GTX 560M)
So I've been thinking about upgrading my laptop to a higher GPU, since I don't have the space for an stationary computer. I wonder if:
1-is it possible to upgrade the video card on my MSI GT780?
2-if it is possible which video cards models are possible to upgrade to? If possible I would like to upgrade to one of the latest graphic cards, a GTX670M or higher.
3-what do I need to modify on my laptop if I want to upgrade? Any modified software or special installation for the upgrade? Or do I just need to change it and I'm good to go?
I've already upgraded my RAM from 6GB to 14GB. Thanks for the help!

If I'm not mistaken the GT780 can't handle cards higher than the gtx670m. It's 150W powerbrik and motherboard revision can't handle 100W cards.
A gtx570m, upgraded to a gtx670m with the correct vBios, should fit nicely. No need to upgrade anything if you wish to change gpu. It should just pop-inI can help you if you need

I searched the GT780 forums and can't find anyone that has successfully upgraded a GT780 graphics card yet. I thought the big deal with the newer cards was the less of a power draw on them? I saw there are some bios options out there that will support the newer cards, where did you get the info that the biggest card to upgrade would be the 670M?

The GTX770M is also an option.

hi, I have today successfully my MSI GT780 upgraded with a GTX 770M. I have worried me the original cooler of the GT70 for a GTX 780m / GTX 770M and fits beautifully. The only thing you have to modding the driver. Since a mod inf needed and the 180W power supply. greeting

The 770m could likely get away with a 150w brick.
